Henry David Thoreau is considered by many to be the father of the ecology movement in the US. He built the house at Walden Pond on land owned by a friend and built a house there which cost him $28.12.5.He lived there for two years and two months and two days, beginning on July 4th, 1845 while he wrote his great book, Walden, Or Live in the Woods. In this book he discussed the great worth of nature to all of us and urged conservation of our natural resources..
