Let's Just Go To Ireland and Not Come Back At All

So it's St. Patrick's Day. Normally I'd be spending it with friends but not this year. This year I'm at home and I don't have any plans. Having no plans is good, I like that. I don't intend to go out at all today, but if I do, I guess I'll wear my "Let's Just Go To Ireland And Not Come Back At All" hoodie, weather permitting. I got this at teespring.com a few years back. It's one of my favorite hoodies and I get a lot of compliments on it. I hope everyone has a Happy St. Patrick's Day whether you celebrate it or not.

I forgot to prepare the Irish coffee. I totally forgot that today is St.Patrick and I had to call my cousin because her name is Patricia.

What a pretty name. I had a grandmother with that same name. I had a great aunt with that name too, but we called her Patty. I hope you had a good day? I didn't make anything Irish themed.

@LadyDuck It's always good to have a relaxing Sunday. I also worked with a lady named Patricia. Everyone else called her Pat (my grandmother was called Pat) but I called her "Trish" or "Tricia" instead. Today does not feel like it should be Monday, atleast not to me.

My St. Patrick's Day was uneventful. I usually spend it with friends. Instead I stayed home, and that was fine too. We adopt a lot of holidays here in the US.

@nela13 Yes, so many different nationalities are represented here. So many came for a better life.

@ScribbledAdNauseum that is natural as the pilgrims stayed in US.

We do our own little bit of celebrating - by wearing green and having a corned beef dinner (I know, I know - it's the American way of celebrating!). I would love to go to Ireland - seeing all their green and mild weather - yah, I'd just might not want to come back !

Oh I agree, I've always said that if I were to get over there I'd never come back. The whole of the UK really, but Northern Ireland is where parts of my ancestry hails from. Oh and American Way or not, I love Corned Beef and Cabbage.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Ah, you have roots there! Have you ever been there? Both Hubby and I have never gone to Europe - but he has roots in Scotland and I think Germany. I loved corned beef and cabbage too! Sadly last night I made it a different way and it all came out too salty.

@much2say Sugar cuts salt doesn't it? I don't know if I'd know how to get it to be less salty myself though. Yes, I took a DNA test, but even if I didn't, Irish, English and German is what mine is.

It isn't really celebrated in England. I always think that the US probably celebrates it more than the Irish!

I think you are right about that. I feel like I watched a video once from the view point of an Irish Lad. He was comparing the differences. I'm not sure why we celebrate it, but we also celebrate Cinco De Mayo and it's as far removed from us now as St. Patrick's Day is.

@Poppylicious From what I've seen, it seems as if England has more extended weekends (Bank Holidays) than we do. Most places here in the US still have people working. It's only really the Federal workers who get those days off, and the trash collectors etc. As for Holidays here, it's only seems like an excuse to eat and not really celebrate the reason behind it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You celebrate these occasions more than the English celebrate St George's Day. Blow, even the English celebrate Paddy more than George. It's ridiculous, but these days the English flag seems unfairly linked to far-right groups, and being English we don't like to upset the apple-cart so we keep schtum about George. I think the Scottish get an extra Bank Holiday for Andrew. Pfft. So unfair.

That sounds delicious. I didn't get anything to make for today. I should have, but then I am usually not at home today. We have some things here to fix, but nothing "Irish" themed.

@paigea I only have lamb when out at a restaurant and even then, it's rare.

I agree with having no plan is good! It actually is! You don't have to plan everything all the time. Be spontaneous also, it's more fun!

I grew up with a family that didn't know what it was to be spontaneous. I had to learn that for myself, and it was stressful at first, not planning things.
