Things to do: Visit Europe, climb to the Top of La Sagrada

Our long-time friends have been in their golden, retirement phase or season. So far, several of them have traveled to Europe, such as: France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Norway. and Eastern civilization of the ancient art and music.
My nephew and his new bride had their honeymoon in Europe last year. They're in their 20s. My daughter missed her youth choir's singing tour to France last year. We couldn't afford it. And France wasn't looking good in the news last year.
Anyway, my hubby and I have not considered about how to use his super upon retirement. We'd love a vacation by ourselves. Travel around the world, a 10-day cruise. Buy a caravan and drive wherever our hearts' desires take us. Just an optimistic look to our back-to-dating days.
Meanwhile, a climb to the top of La Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, Spain would, literally, be breathtaking.
Probably not a good idea. But it would be a historical, memorable thing to do.

I've was in Bareclona 6 years ago with some of my internet friends and I was there ages ago, about 20, when I friend and I went interrailing. I'd like to go back in some years again, to see how far they've progressed with the building.
It's a really nice town but I think it's difficult to find a time of the year when it isn't swamped by tourists. There's a few cities like that in Europe now, and some of them are so big that they handle it, but in Barcelona the locals are starting to protest I think. Also in Venice and some of the smaller towns on the Italian coast.

@nela13 If things all around Europe and capital cities, esp. Paris, are still the same as 20+ years ago. :-) We'd probably visit the countryside, instead.

I have never been to Spain. But I have been to the tops of other places like the Eiffel Tower and Washington Monument.
