It is not a sail boat but still.

Yesterday, while I was talking to Dixie, she told me that Humberto was crazy with his new boat. It doesn´t have sails as the yacht I sailed with them in Panama. But it is a bigger boat. Humberto and a couple of friends bought it in Miami second hand. Its name was Mammoth but they had decided to change its name. The ship was in the islands where the hurricanes struck. Many vessels were torn to pieces including a beautiful sail boat belonging to one of Humberto´s friends. He had invested in it all his savings and was planning to retire and spend his time sailing. The Mammoth though was scarcely injured in spite of it all. So the owners thought that it had earned its name Humberto brought it to Chile with the help of some friends and the aid of Andrés his son. It was on a yard licking its wounds for several months and now it is ready to sail again. Some time ago we took Humberto for the first trip with seasoned sailors and they declared it healthy enough to sail to the south of Chile. And, friends, I´m in the list of passengers for a trip. I want to go to the south where the King crab are waiting for you.

Do they change name of the boat? They are surely not "seamen/women" it shows they are not superstitious.

My friend and his friends have been sailing since they were small. Their father were sailors too. Humberto´s father had a Navy career. I guess things have changed. A long time ago, women could not set foot on a boat. And my friend is not superstitious at all. He is a doctor and a scientist.

@marguicha I have many friends in Monte Carlo who are doctors, professors and lawyers, they are not superstitious, but they would never change the name of a boat. One of them told me that you can follow a ceremony if you like.

That is a worthy name! I have only been on a boat a couple of times. My great uncle has a pontoon boat and I got to ride on that. That was also the first time I learn that wind burn was a thing haha!

We have to wear a lot of sun block aboard ships. I was 2 weeks aboard the Alcion years ago.

It can be a good idea to acquire something like this with friends and family. Share the expense, the work and the fun.

They sort of bought a timeshare of the boat. In Humberto´s time, he can fill the boat with his friends.

Dixie told me yesterday that Humberto was planning trips until the day he got to be a 100 years old. But first, they are going to Colombia on September as Humberto´s brother in law is ill. And then they will be with me one week in Aruba.

have a safe and smooth journey, crabs are delicious. I miss boat and ferry riding from island to island, it's been a long time since I got into one.
