The Things We Do For Love by Kristin Hannah

Seems like I have an endless number of Kristin Hannah books to read. I really like this author, I get into her books and can hardly put them down, even the ones, like this one, that are not necessarily the MOST exciting plot lines out there. Have you read her? Or read this one? What do you think? I found myself emotionally entangled with the characters of this book. On one hand, Angie, is ending a marriage with a messy divorce, moving back to her home town while she gets it together, quitting her high-stress advertising career to help out at her family's restaurant...Angie has had it rough, really wanted a child and almost had one, with the help of a surrogate - who then changed her mind at last minute, leaving Angie alone with a marriage falling apart. Then, Lauren, a high school student who lives in poverty with her alcoholic, good-for-nothing mother, who is as flighty as she is useless, does not emotionally support Lauren, nor pay the bills. Lauren struggles especially after losing her part-time job due to budget cuts, and is out looking for work when she meets Angie, who happens to be looking for another waitress for their family restaurant. I won't give any of it away, but they meet and form a mother-daughter type relationship, and both have big issues in their personal lives that arise. This was not a good synopsis. Ha! But this book is super heartfelt and I couldn't really put it down. I have one more Kristin Hannah book to read next, called Firefly Lane. But it seems like whenever I am out thrift shopping, I see a new one. Have you read anything good lately?

I love fantasy books, I have just finshed the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Mass and they were amazing. Before that I read her 'A court of thorns and roses' series and loved them also. I am now reading City of Bones, as I have wanted to read it for ages but I am not gripped yet x

I have not heard of her. Her books sound emotionally involving though.

Haven't read books for years now. I can't even remember the last books I have read. But I have read Tuesday with Morrie and the Alchemist.

I liked Tuesdays with Morrie a lot, have you read anything else by Mitch Albom lately? I would suggest the Five People You Meet in Heaven, or really any other book by him. I want to read the Alchemist, that has been on my list for forever!

I read this one and didn't really like it that much. My favorites by Hannah are Winter Garden, True Colors, and the Nightengale.

The Nightingale is by far, hands down the best one I have read. I just finished reading Winter Garden and didn't care for all the story telling. For whatever reason. Ha.

I am currently off books, but into movies and TV Series. (I think one of my good friends is a fan of this author. I bought some books before for her birthday.)

Very nice. I like this author a lot. What kind of tv shows / movies are you into? For some reason, I have the attention span for reading but not for sitting and watching a TV show or movie.

@maezee I have found out that with me, it depends on the mood I am in. There would be time when I curled my lips at any mentioning of movies or TV series. But right now, I can't read. I have been watching Poirot (Agatha Christie).

@YrNemo Nice. I have never seen OR read anything by Agatha Christie, and I am not sure why that is!
