Here is another additon of my favorite songs celebrating the days of the week and the artists who recorded them. See if you can name these song titles. Remember, these songs have the day Saturday as part of their title! If your a "Day Tripper" then this day is a terrific one for a picnic in the park if the weather cooperates. And a night out on the town later on. Here is a video sung by Dave Edmunds whose title describes that anticipation of a wonderful evening. It's called "Almost Saturday Night" written by CCR great John Fogerty. Hope you enjoy this version as you check out those clues... Whodunnit? Do you know these songs and artists? . 1. This group is named after a midwest U.S. city. The melody of this song was based off a Beatles tune called "You Won't See Me." This 70's song was the band's first gold single. The song's inspiration came from an exhilarating 4th of July spent in a popular New York outdoor area. Most of their albums are numbered with Roman numerals, Super Bowl style. Their first release was a double album which was ignored by AM radio but loved by the FM stations. The rock n 'roll group features a horn section. 2. This 70's song was inspired by a poker game that resulted in the shooting of one of the players. The song lyrics mention he was shot with a cheap handgun. The band members really did believe in gun play. The group's bassist actually wore a holster with a gun on stage. You might know these Southern Rockers from a very popular top ten song whose title included the name of a U.S. state. They also had another tune, an FM radio staple, with a bird title that became their signature song in concert. Bonus tune/artist: These pop-rockers are a Scottish band known for their worldwide teen idol popularity in the 1970s. The group was known as the "Saxons" in their early days but decided on a name change as they got more successful. The band finalizied their new name by having one of the members throw a dart at a U.S. map and picking the city it landed on. This pop tune was a #1 U.S. hit and contained a infectious memorable chant in the lyrics. Unfortuntately the group did not live up to the huge hype they received from this 1975 hit in America. By 1978 with their popularity in decline they decided to change personal, musical direction, and their name. It didn't work and they lost their recording contract and stopped touring by 1981. Fun fact: This #1 song inspired the Ramones chant "Hey, Ho... Let's Go" on their song "Blitzkrieg Bop." Ok, time to solve those songs and artists and "brighten your day." If your stuck and need additional help just let me know in your response. "Reach Out and I'll Be There" if more clues are needed. As always, thanks for reading and responding to my music post !!!! Well, by now you know 1 is always better than none #2 was a group from the south where some of the members were killed in a plane crash in 1977. They recorded a famous rock song called Sweet Home Alabama. The song is another name for an inexpensive handgun usually a pocket type pistol... The bonus was the Bay City Rollers a 70's band who had success with a song called S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night, lol. They chanted the Saturday part.
