Any cooks out there?

My husband is the cook in our family, but I want to cook him something elaborate this weekend as a surprise! I'm not a bad cook, I'm just out of practice. Does anyone have any recipes or suggestions of what to make? I'm working with a tight budget so, what do you think I could do.

Hard to give suggestions not knowing what your husband likes or dislikes.

@Pcaldwell In this case you can prepare a Vietnamese fried rice with some little shrimps, peas, meat, omelette, it's very good.

He likes literally everything, but Asian foods are his favorite.

I'm a bad cook no matter how many times I practice. So I'm just here to wish you good luck and have fun on your weekend date.

my husband was a cook for 18 years. he likes to dress up ramen noodles..cream of mushroom soup, leftover meat of some kind, fresh veggies.and you discard the packet that it comes with..that's salty garbage.but it's cheap and tastes really good.

Got no idea of your food preferences, cannot really suggest anything. Try recipe from you tube.

What does your husband love to eat? If you can't cook, you can make a dessert instead...

Not too long back I was having to please my kids as well and not an easy thing to do. Money was very tight so I put things that were cheap and good and did the best I could with what there was right then.

Cooking for myself I have become a lazy cook and just eat whatever I can heat up or out of a can. I do love to cook just not for myself. From the Latvian side of me this is inexpensive but very delicious and best if you make a nice brown gravy too.

How about frying up some rib-eye steak with some mushrooms and onions. Can't go wrong with that.

@playertwo You can take those off the list then. How about steak and mushrooms?

Well, try a simple dish like scramble eggs with sliced onions and hot-dogs on it. Fried it for about 2-3 minutes only.

I suggest to you to make a simple one first. Just like something fried or boiler.

Fix a meal that is his favorite. My husband loves BBQ pork spare ribs.
