Here is another additon of my favorite songs celebrating the days of the week and the artists who recorded them. See if you can name these song titles. The songs have the day Sunday as part of their title!
To introduce this lazy day most of us look forward to after a hectic work week is a video by the Moody Blues that captures perfectly the contentment of a Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the great harmonies on this live video before pondering those clues...
And now Whodunnit? Do you know these songs and artists?
1. This American 1960s sunshine pop band was known for its vocal harmonies. This Sunday tune was the band's biggest hit selling one million copies. The group had a short tenure from 1966-69 disbanding after the death of their lead guitarist due allegedly to an attack of bronchial pneumonia. This song has a very joyful and upbeat melody, but the lyrics tell the story of the singer losing her man and being left with just memories of walks in the park on Sundays. The female lead singer had a stint as a replacement for Cass Elliot of the Mamas and The Papas. Fun fact: the band derived it's name from the Hal Roach Little Rascals TV series.
2. This group is an American rock and pop band originally active between 1966 and 1971. The members were actor/musicians who were selected for a popular TV show about a fictional band. One of the musicians in the group wrote a popular song "Different Drum," recorded by The Stone Ponies (Linda Ronstadt), before Ronstadt went on to a very successful solo career. This trivia song was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole KIng for the band. The tune is about a street in West Orange, New Jersey, where they lived at the time. The song is an ode to the simple life in happy suburbia, celebrating lawn moving, TV watching, and gardening roses on a peaceful Sunday.
Bonus: This English musician and singer-songwriter had most of his chart sucess in the late 70's and early 80's. He had a number of new wave singles before he moved onto more jazz-inflected pop music. This tune was off the artist's debut album and the song's lyrics were a denunciation of the UK press and their sensationalistic news stories. His song message condemed the newspapers basically saying to not believe everything you read. The artist had numerous battles and sharp words for the press who often categorized him as a New Wave musician, which offended him.
Ok, time to make it your "lucky day" and solve those songs and artists...
If your stuck and need additional help just let me know in your response. "Reach Out and I'll Be There" if more clues are needed. As always, thanks for reading and responding to my music post !!!!

Well, your having a "fine day" solving those clues and getting 2 out of 3 right. Bonus additional clues-"Is he Really Going Out With Him" was a hit for this artist. Within the trivia clues you might notice a couple of media references. And this day is also a very popular one for relaxing, reading, and catching up on what's going on in the world. Put the clues together and you have the trivia song....

1. Well, when your last name is McFarlane, and you get the nickname “Spanky,” no day will ever be the same!
2. And to think those guys Monkeed around with a song called “Saturday’s Child,” too! Love Mike’s great solo song “Joanne.” (Okay, technically, it was him and the First National Band.).
BONUS: If you wanna know about the gay politician (YEAH!). Because as Joe (he’s the man) said in that song, they wouldn’t print it if it wasn’t true. (It was the song right before “Is She Really Going Out With Him” on the album, not that I ever had it or anything.....

I'm sure Petey would also approve of the band's name! Hey, hey some nice little trivia there on Mike.
And people say your monkeying around
Ah, what a pleasure to put Joe in one my quizzes. And you don't need to read it in the papers!
Love the comments, clueless (not)

#1 I don't know the name, but there's a song that incorporates Sunday's in the park. It has an upbeat melody.
#2 The only TV band I know would be The Monkeys. I doubt you're talking about The Partridge Family, just remembered that fictional band.
No idea on the bonus.
