Yet another prop has popped up - a royal purple bougainvillea. We use bougainvillea props to support other plants and they get the nourishment and this is how they flourish.
Bougainvillea anyway need very little maintenance but they do add colour to the garden.

@allknowing It makes a fine place for little birds to perch on too . . . that's what we enjoy seeing around summer.

It does have the tendency to overgrow and yes the more it is trimmed wilder it grows.

It truly is a very hardy plant. The only thing I do not like about the plant is that it has thorns in its stems that you have to be careful when touching them else you get scratched by them. Most use this plant as wall to cover their lots. You just have to trim them every now and then so the branches would not grow anywhere.

@allknowing It does not need a lot of maintenance and the only thing you have to do with it is to trim them from time too time since it can grow branches and become unsightly. But when properly trimmed and flowers are blooming they can be nice to look at since they bloom all year round.

Sad really that so many do not grow them just because of the thorns but they do not mind roses (lol)

You must be having them in pots. And that must be amazing that they are flowering despite their size.

I have a pink one in my garden. Though it is not so flourished and lushy like yours because it is in a pot. But definitely it adds some colors to my garden.

I had a friend years ago who had scores of pots with all the colours. They grow well in pots.

@allknowing I have only one pot. I will see if I can manage with space to have a few more pots with different colors.
