Autobiographies

Some time ago I read an autobiography. I wanted to read it because I know the author. He is not one of my friends, but I have met him because he works on the island where I used to live.
He works in a group home for people with mental disorders, and I was hoping that he would write a lot about his work, but I was a little disappointed in the book. He does mention his work, but many parts of the book aren't that interesting and they contain too many unnecessary details (in my opinion)
Do you ever read autobiographies? Have you ever read an autobiography that was written by someone you know in person? If you don't like autobiographies, what do you like to read instead?

@LadyDuck I have read some great thrillers, and some that disappointed me. The last novel I read was The woman in the window by A.J. Finn. It is a very popular book, the waiting list at the library was several months long, but I liked the book when I finally got it.

I like history books, too. I like to read about the history of my country. My mother loves history, and I think that is one of the reasons why I also became interested in the topic.

@Nevena83 Which history books are you interested in? The local history of your country or international history?

Some people have interesting lives and interesting stories to tell. The last autobiography I read was written by someone I have met in person. He isn't really famous, but he has been on tv (a documentary about the place where he works)

I think it was mentioned on one of the websites I visited. It was a Danish translation, and I am not sure what the original title is.

In my opinions what we read in other biographies is not real, like maluse say it's written by the ghost writer

Yes, some of them are written by ghost writers. I know that some of our local politicians have used ghostwriters in their autobiographies.

I have read many self-help books and some of them were really good. I remember one book that was written by a psychologist. He wrote about cognitive therapy and how to use it. I really liked that book and I copies some of the setences from the book before I had to return it to the library.

@dya80dya The author's name is Henrik Tingleff, but I am not sure if the book is available in other languages. He is a local author from my country. I hope that they will translate it if hasn't been translated, because it is very good and I think that it could be useful for people in other countries.

I also like to read about how people deal with life. Many people have an interesting story to tell. I remember a story about a young girl who was lured into protitution. I read it a long time ago, but I still remember it very clearly. She experienced many horrible things, but she is also a very strong person.

I sometimes read autobiographies and biographies. Some of them were more interesting than others, but I liked some of them a lot. Many people have an interesting story to tell. Yes, that book wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be, but at least I enjoyed some parts of the book.

Horror is one of my favorite genres. I like horror and thrillers a lot. When I read about interesting horror or thriller books I add them to my reading list.

That sounds like me. I have enjoyed some autobiographies and biographies a lot. I have also read some books that weren't as interesting as I thought they would be. I love fiction, too. When I visit the library I usually borrow many different kinds of books.
