I have three shows recording on my DVR tonight at 8 pm - American Idol, The Voice, and Shadowhunters. I didn't even know that I can record more than two shows at once.
I wonder if I can watch TV while these three shows are recording. Or better yet, I wonder if I can watch one of the shows that's recording while all three are doing that... It would be nice to get one show out of the way, so that tomorrow I have less to catch up on, especially since I have three shows recording on DVR tomorrow at the same time.
I can't watch all the shows right after they finish recording because hubby will come home from work and he will want to watch other stuff, which will probably be reruns of all the Star Trek series.

You should be able to watch TV while the shows are recording. Yes, you can watch a show while you are recording it. I do it all the time. Our DVR needs to be fixed and can only record one show at a time.

it used to be when we had FIOS that you can only record two shows at once and if you have two shows recording you can't watch TV unless it's one of the channels the show that's recording is on. Now we have Spectrum, which seems to be different. I had no idea three shows can record at once. Thought it was only two. And I am not sure we can watch TV when three shows are recording.

@LindaOHio Seems we can record three shows at once while watching another channel. We tried that out a few days ago.

@lovebuglena Our DVR isn't working; so I couldn't begin to help you! All I know is that I can record ONE show at a time and watch TV too. Anything more than that doesn't work!

How many shows can you record at once?

@lovebuglena I know that the number depends by the kind of contract you signed. I think that we can record up to 5 at once.

@LadyDuck That's a good number if you watch a lot of shows that happen to air on the same day at the same time.

That's what I am wondering about... I have no idea how our DVR works.

We tried doing it a few days ago. Hubby came home and decided to watch a baseball game while I had three shows recorded. All three shows recorded and there were no issues with the recordings. And he was able to watch baseball without issues either. So I guess we can record three shows and watch another at the same time.

Does it matter how many shows are recording for you to be able to watch TV while the recordings are in progress?
