Doodles the cat enjoys going for walks outdoors with his daddy, our younger son. No leash necessary. Why no leash? Doodles thinks he’s a puppy and follows commands. The neighbors think he is very smart. And he is. When outdoors he reacts to: This way Come to daddy Time to go in Get that Show Daddy the hole Where’s the mouse, squirrel, bird, chipmunk, turkey, deer No No no No no no Take a nap What smart things can your pets do?

Ignore me... try to throw me off his back when he wasn't in the mood. I can really pick them ;)

Oh, sorry! Doodles can be very nasty when he wants to be left alone or if he sees another cat. He sent his daddy to the ER twice!

Nico brings his red fish for me to toss. I can tell him bring me the fish and he will. He also taught himself to pull the mouse's tale and make it squeak.

** Me trying to pet the screen . Doodles is such a smartycat! We don't dare let our parakeets outside (not even on a leash ). But it's interesting how we put them anywhere in our house and they know just how to fly back to their cage .

@DianneN Nope, we could not get ours to talk. I guess some parakeets can be trained to come back after calling their names . . . but ours seem to know to go the other way .

Thanks for that. I agree that parakeets should not go out leash or no leash. They are very smart little birds. Do yours talk at all?

Gorgeous photo of Doodles! And that's very smart. =) When our kids "pretend" to fall our dogs will run to their aid to make sure they are okay!

He's one very smart kitty. I taught Rascal to dance for his treat. He would get up on his hind legs and dance for me. All I had to say was dance and hold his treat up. He was quick to comply. He loved his treats.

He is lovely and he proves that cats listen to their owners and can perfectly do what we ask them to do. I am sure that if you tell to Doodles "eat your food", he will.

Thank you! His daddy taught him everything he knows. The meds are keeping him in line. He's due for a vet visit regarding his heart, but my son fears the news of no improvement or worse. I talked him in to making an appointment soon.

Wow, that is amazing! I think it has to do with how smart the pet is and how much love and time you give them. Animals know when they are safe and loved.

@DianneN Doodles is very smart. I know you said that Doodles thinks he is puppy but I am so amazed at how Doodles will go for walks with your son and does not need a leash. I would love to take Sophie for walks with me. How is Sophie smart? She does not know tricks but just the way she listens and understands at times is why she is very smart.

@DianneN Kobe is doing much better, on his leash. Now that he realizes, I can't be pushed around. I was informed that dogs are smarter than cats and I don't believe it! Cats are extremely intelligent, they communicate in ways that some people just don't understand
