Tuner Case Update

Here is a picture of the tuner case I'm working on. In this photo, all missing veneer is replaced and all surfaces are completely sanded down.
Watco Walnut Danish Oil will be the next step, as per the owner's request. I'll write more later. I'm just on a quick break from work.
Bottom line: This is what dark walnut looks like when it is dry and unoiled.

I've seen dry, unfinished dark walnut before. I think one of my brothers liberated an old desk from someone's garbage pile and refinished it. The end product was beautiful.

@TheHorse you just reminded me of a YA novel called Swift Rivers by Cornelia Miegs. It's about a teenager and his plan to get timber (including the king if walnut trees) from Minnesota down to New Orleans. It's a good coming of age yarn.
