Ten Favorite Fire Songs: Setting the Woods on Fire (#7)

From the incredibly obscure country singers we move to one that everyone has heard of for the "fire" song in my dual countdowns of "burn" and "fire" songs. I didn't intend for both songs to be old country, because I know how much everybody just loves old country music (especially John and Lori ). Sorry. You can always go back and listen to the Talking Heads' "fire" song if this isn't your cup of tea. #7: Settin' the Woods on Fire - Hank Williams If you've ever heard Hank Williams sing Brother, you know the whole blessed thing ("That's Where I'm From" by Robbie Fulks) There's not a whole heck of a lot to say about Hank. There are four "Hanks" in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but everyone knows who you mean when you say Hank. And if you don't know, turn in your country music fan card. One of the songs that Williams didn't write (Fred Rose co-wrote this one), this is a fun, upbeat, novelty-type tune that stands in stark contrast to the painful song on the other side of the record ("You Win Again"). It has stood the test of time despite the dated reference to "tires and tubes" in old car tires. Pure country. Settin' the Woods on Fire Written by Fred Rose and Edward Nelson Recorded by Hank Williams Released as a single, 1952 You be daffy and I'll be dilly:

I guess you would say I was "forced," too, because it was about all that was in the house; however, I loved it. Still do. Thanks for enduring this discussion. Here's some Ramones to clean your ears out.
