Wrote sixteen limericks in less than a week

Sometimes limericks don't come to you but sometimes they come in batches all of a sudden. Like you write one and then more come to you one after the other... I wrote seven limericks today, one last night, four on the 13th, and four on the 12th. That's sixteen limericks in total in less than a week. I am so happy about that. Now I only have sixty eight more limericks to write to complete my manuscript for the first ever limerick book I am planning to publish. That's still a huge number of limericks to write but I am making progress. Hopefully, I will have more great days like this where I am very inspired and will write many in one sitting...

I just wrote a limerick for another site. Do you have a theme or particular topics that you write about?

Whatever comes into my head at the moment is what I write about... Sometimes actual limericks come to me but sometimes I just get an idea to write about a certain situation and then I write it.

Good luck with your project. How do you plan on marketing your manuscript?

@LindaOHio I publish the books myself so no need for an agent.

@lovebuglena It's tough out there. I was hoping that you already had a buyer! It's even tough for writers to get an agent. Good luck! I wish I could be of more help.

I write a lot of limericks too but have no intention of making a book out of them. I honestly don't think many people would be interested in buying them.

@lovebuglena That's fine if you are doing for yourself. I'm on a poetry site (allpoetry.com) and I enjoy sharing my poems on there.

While I'd love to have it sell a lot (as I'd love to happen with all my books) whether many will be interested in my book to buy it or not does not matter too much. I am doing it because I want to do it. I have already published 11 books, so this one will be my 12th. I am rather excited about it because it's a different kind of poetry book that I've ever done and i am actually writing stuff for it rather than just collecting all poems I have already written and making a book out of that. My friend has written thousands of limericks. I recently helped him publish his third book of limericks. He is the one that got me onto the limerick train. I appreciate this poetic style much more now. It's not always easy to write but it's fun.

How you keep those rhyming patterns in your head and sound silly entails concentration. The limericks on the mouse who runs up the clock is my favorite.

Sometimes limericks come easy, sometimes not. What can be a challenge is keeping the rhyme scheme perfect and having the syllable count be on point. So, at times, I have to sit there and tweak to get it just right. However, I think it is better to perhaps not have a perfect rhyme or to have a syllable count off a little but have the limerick sound better and be of a better quality than to have perfectly mastered the requirement of the style but have flow that sounds off or the quality is not as good.
