Try boarding Indian local bus

Indian local bus
Mangalore, India
April 24, 2019 1:29am CST
Today as i woke up late, i had to run to the bus stand to catch the bus for my collage. Which is one kilometer far from my home.I managed to catch the bus and i thought of sharing my experience of boarding the Indian local bus. The beauty of these bus is that, they never leave anyone behind. Even if the bus is full of passenger and even with some of them hanging in the door steps they will never leave any passenger behind on their route. The conductor(the one who collects the ticket ) will be trying all his best to collect the ticket from each passenger. And when i see him going all the way through everyone to collect the ticket even when there is no place to keep a single step in the bus, I will be amazed for his hard work. Sometimes the conductor will lose his patience and starts shouting on the passengers to adjust so that the passengers hanging on the doors may not fall down. And the aged passengers will be yelling on him for picking each and everyone on their route. When my stop arrives the bus will be almost empty since most of the passengers are students from my collage. And when i was departing the bus i heared some passengers thanking god like they got a special gift from him. But the experience of travelling in these bus is just awesome and unforgettable.I see people taking care of one another, by giving the aged one, pregnant woman and the woman carrying a baby to sit in their seat. And driver will be driving in such a hurry that, he does not even think of the passengers who find it difficult to balance while travelling. I think no car or a motor cycle can give me this wonderful experience and memories and even some moral lessons. And i thank god for giving me this wonderful moments. #no matter who you are,Always take things positively that happen in your life.

There is still humanity in riding those local Indian buses.

@Junbals So you need to travel in a dangerous way to see humanity. A man who stands up to let an old woman sit in a modern comfortable bus is not humanity in your way to see things?

Ask women how they feel when they are in cramped buses and male passengers molest them and they can't even stir. The term 'humanity' will get stuck in your throat.

@LadyDuck riding in a congested bus, and still be able to offer a smile and share one's tiny space - is an expression of humanity. Compared to that, I used to ride an intercity train from Basel Switzerland to Freiburg Germany. In the compartment, I found myself with four different people. We never glanced at each other nor ever said hi. Which do you think was more humane?

I must tell you that I don't share your positive feelings concerning a bus ride in India. 'Wonderful moments'? My back bottom! I prefer a less cramped way of transport. How do the people hanging outside the bus feel in case of heavy rain?

@zaffarjappa @maluse I have travelled in many buses in India and this is always the case. I loved it when I was young but I couldn’t cope with it now.

Most of the people who don't belong to India will find it crazy and difficult.... But I am glad that you still find it optimistic to travel in such scenerio....

It doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but I am glad you are able to see the best in a tough situation. That is a gift!

Hmmm... I see you must be wearing rose colored glasses. (Is that an expression that is only understood in the United States or has it gotten half-way around the world now?) I've never heard a bus ride in India described in those terms before... nor have I ever heard my Indian friends calling a bus ride a wonderful experience. I think it is very nice that you can have a positive experience in an over-crowded bus, but I think you may be unique in that respect. I do hope you are doing well in your studies and will pass your classes with flying colors!

It’s good that you are still optimistic in such scenario. However it’s a bit dangerous when a bus is overloaded right?

Its good that all the passenger and the conductor were very nice. I only prefer to travel on bus if I get the sit and there is a song going on. Otherwise I don't like to travel by bus. I preferred my own car. As you enjoy the journey through this bus , so its great.
