On Wednesday I attended a quilting class called "Free Motion Quitling for the Absolutely Terrified!"
I told my instructor that I'm no longer terrified when I arrived at class. That a beginner class had helped me solve a few of the issues I had been experiencing (I'm a visual learner).
This meant I didn't need to spend a lot of time adjusting my machine, choosing a suitable sewing machine needle and the correct thread combinations.
We covered the basic stitching I had learned in November, but then we took a sharp turn and I added a lot of new material to my repertoire.
At the end of the class we were required to make a small wallhanging. We wouldn't have time to complete it in class so it was a homework assignment.
The teacher also requested us to make a second project (the same project) in a weeks time to see how much we have improved.
My initial project is complete....just waiting to have the markings laundered out. Now I know what I'll be doing next week.

@Morleyhunt I watch YouTube videos to make new recipes from other countries, or to decorate the cakes. It is so much easier when you see how the others do.

Thank you. It's much easier when you can physically see how it's done, not just watch a video (remember my floors
). The instructor can also help you troubleshoot and solve the problems you may encounter.

@LadyDuck the videos help with many things....but I found that having someone show me and walk me through it was even better.

It isn't as complicated as it looks. It all come down to breaking it into smaller pieces. One piece at a time.

Thank you! I plan to do the repeat on Wednesday and if everything works out as it should I'll be posting side by side photos of my improvement.

Your project looks perfect to me! I'm also a visual learner and that's how I learned to crochet.

I love this kind of patterned cloth look. There is a name for it but I can't remember- do you know the word I'm looking for?
