Watermelon

Watermelon is one of my favorite treats during the summer. They are already out in grocery stores and at the various Farmer's Markets.
One of the things I love about our Flea Market is that we have space in the front for various vendors to sell their extra produce. Last week someone brought in a basket full of watermelons.
I couldn't resist, knowing that these watermelons were locally grown and at about 1/2 the price you would pay in the grocery store. I picked one out before leaving along with a bag of fresh grapes.
We cut the watermelon over the weekend and it was pretty good. I think it would have been sweeter if left on the vine a few more days. However, it was as good or better than what you would get in the grocery store. And I didn't pay as much. I would rather my hard earned money go to a fellow Flea Market vendor than to the grocery store.
Do you like watermelon? Do they grow in your area?

We will be able to get fresh later in the year. I always buy then. Sometimes a huge box full when they go cheap at the auction.

Yes, watermelons grow in our area. They're not my all-time favorite. I also like cantaloupe and honeydew.
