One Of Those Things That Make Me Feel Young

Our batchmates had some activities last May 4-5 , since some came from abroad and from Manila to attend our high school alma mater’s 65th Homecoming. We weren’t one of the jubilarians this year, but we were so happy we gathered . We went to Sorsogon and had some fun. We went on a cruise through a big raft on a lake from 4;00 to 7:00 pm where in the evening we saw lots of fireflies and had dinner at its restaurant amidst the lake. Then after the cruise we slept overnight at a hot spring resort where our rooms have Jacuzzi with flowing water from the hot spring in front. We had a refreshing dip for a long time at the Jacuzzis and had lots of catching ups. Of course, there were lots of foods, others , brought. The next day, we attended the 8:00 a.m. mass at Irosin, Sorsogon parish church, then proceeded to Legazpi City and had a buffet lunch at Balay Cena Una. In the late afternoon, we watched the Homecoming program then after which we went to dinner at Casa Lorenzo an advance birthday treat by one of the doctor batchmates. I can say that these activities are one of those that makes me feel young. The pictures cannot deny. What about you, what activities makes you feel young ?

Looks like you finally went to the river cruise which I experience last March. I am very certain that it is really fun to be with old HS batch mates and roam around the place like you were teenagers again. I really look like you've enjoyed every moment with your schoolmates.

So, you also experienced the Buhatan cruise. Were there many fireflies when you did it? Who were you with? Do you also have reunions with your former classmates in high school? Now, that we are older and our children are big enough to take care of themselves, when one asks that we gather at a restaurant and eat and of course have some chats, we really take the time to attend it. I know, even my batchmates feel young whenever we all gather and have laughs.

@SIMPLYD If you would recall you read my post about it and even asked me about it. We had our company outing there in Sorsogon. I wish I can enjoy my senior years with old friends like you are now. My batch mates are still busy doing their thing and reunions are not that important yet for us. Maybe comes the time I reach my golden age we would start missing each other and gather like your are.

@rsa101 Oh, yes I remember. Anything done in groups you are close with becomes so enjoyable. Well, you are still all at that age that are still busy with earning money to provide for the children. Thus, gatherings that entails extra expenses will deter you all from gathering. Time will come when all of you will long to be gathered and have some catching up with each one's life.

I only feel young when I am in room full or older people. These days I am among the older people in most groups.

You are still young that is why you feel young always. As for us we are all nearing our senior years. But when we gather we feel like we were the high school girls we once are.

I see from the photos that you had a great time. It makes me feel young traveling with my husband to see places we visited when we were not yet married. We had lunch together today in a place where we went when we were fiances.

Yes, those too can really make one feel young. Well, you must have financially stable children to be able to travel always. But if one is financially stable no need for the children's financial assistance, because you have the money to spend. That can make one really feel so young always.

Oh I so love the Filipino community ! I will tell you that many of my Filipino/na friends out here put together such wonderful gatherings of friends and family - well planned and all well fed . Everyone wants to keep active and stay happy . . . how joyous life is when all make a community effort to uplift each other. That would definitely keep people young! Sounds like you had a marvelous time ! For me, keeping the body and mind active - whatever that may be - makes me feel young. I see that it is harder to "do things" as one gets older - I'm trying to fight that .

You are so adorable for loving the Filipino community. Indeed, Filipinos are fun loving people with something to make a joke out of little things and always are well fed, when they gather as you said and I can say that is so true of us. True, keeping the mind and body active can really make us feel young, definitely. Really, you find it hard to keep your body active? Why, are you still working? Me, I make it a point to exercise at least 20 minutes every morning after my morning prayer when I wake up at 5;00 to prepare for going to work. Somehow, I am used to it and my body miss it once I fail even for a day.

@SIMPLYD I have gotten to know many Filipino families - sometimes I have thought that I was Filipina (I am Japanese-American). Our family has been fortunate to be included in some of these gatherings . . . the rest I hear of or see photos of on Facebook. Oh they take a lot of pictures and know how to pose just right too ! I am active - for sure my kids keep me that way - but I know I could be doing more. I actually hate to "exercise" - but I do love to dance and stretch (I used to figure skate) . . . music definitely gets me going. It's good that you are so active . . . you always look so super young in your photos !

I'm 63 so there isn't too much that makes me feel younger. The only thing I can think of is my state of mind sometimes. In my mind, there are times when I feel 18 again.
