A little scare last night

I almost forgot to tell you the crazy story from last night. My son works at Home Depot and they had a bunch of cops there last night and well I got a text from my son right away and it kind of went like this. Wanted to let you know I'm ok, a bunch of cops are here at work cause some wanted guy was in the store. They closed the store and are searching it right now but I'm ok. of course we went back and forth and I found out that there were no shots fired and they looked at video and seen that he left the store. Everything was okay but shortly after my daughter texted and asked if he was home cause on Facebook there are all kind of stories. Then I got a call from my mom asking about him. I let them know everything was alright. Seems on Facebook there were stories that there was a shooting there and there was a robbery, and there was a bomb threat. None of which were true. That was just another example of why I hate Facebook. People just put anything on there without knowing the facts and then of course it just spreads like wild fire. I told my son thank you for letting me know right away. He knows if I would have heard all that and then could not get a hold of him I would have been in the car driving there to see what happened.

People like to make assumptions and present them as facts. I'm glad it was no worse than it was, and with the store on lockdown, atleast there wasn't much they had to do. I assume employees are stationed at certain areas of the store to reassure customers still within, but that's about it.

@Bensen32 I feel like it might have been safer for an undercover cop to go in, check the backroom and then get the manager to quietly and safely get everyone to the back. I guess they know what they are doing though. My idea actually reminds me of something. I used to work as a stock clerk. There was a guy that came to work for our store, he worked for an entirely different grocery store before. He said that once he found this homeless dude just sitting in the deli (where they prepare foods) and eating some of the foods that were set to be discounted the next day.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well not sure they knew what they were doing but it all worked out and no one was hurt. They did catch the guy the next morning so that was good too. Hey when you're homeless and hungry you got to do what you have to to survive.

Facebook is the King of fake news, there is only gossip, all those who know nothing spread fake news.

The important thing is your son is safe and no untoward incident occur. This incident is another example why social media like FB should have safety measures in place to prevent fake news.
