I will have to spend very little in airfare.

I just called the Travel Agency associated with my Bank. As some of you know, I buy everything with my credit card even though I pay it every month.
They give me dollar prizes and I can use them to travel. It takes a long time to reach an amount that it is useful, but finally, for this trip to Aruba, I will buy most of the ticket with it.
I am so very happy. There are some things that I have to buy or pay for, such as the lodgings. But the ticket will be almost free. I have to pay around $70 for the whole trip. Now I will check on the amount I will have to pay for the lodgings. I don´t consider the money I spend on food as I would have to eat here too.
I´m getting ready for my vacations.

I have been saving my dollar prizes for almost 3 years, so it is not the cheap at all.

@marguicha When we traveled many times a year to the United States we often had free tickets.

Sounds like some very good savings. And excellent that you use your credit cards the way you do. I use mine the same way. Just for the rewards. I use Discover mostly and they pay me 1% cash back, but each quarter they run a 5% cash back reward on certain purchases. This quarter it is gas stations. Last quarter it was grocery stores. I do the same, I never carry a balance and pay it each month. All of my cash rewards go directly into savings and investments. I do not spend that money.

Gas is usual here, but I sold my car a couple of years ago and decided not to drive any longer. For me, it is vacations. I feelI need vacations as life is too short.

@porwest Me too. But I buy whatever I need with my credit card (that I pay in full each month). The Bank gives me some prizes (dollar prizes, they say, that can be used at a travel agency for tickets. I had enough of that so that my air fare was very small. Now I will have to pay for my lodgings.

@marguicha Vacations are a large part of what I save for these days. We take a lot of vacations. But all of them are paid for with cash.

What a smart way to travel! I love that you are able to have a great vacation and not go into hock for it!

I once told someone that for not having much money, I´m a pro.
I quit smoking so that I could have vacations, but other things happened and I needed more money

If you use it that much, it is nice to get those kind of perks back. I always would rather a much lower interest rate, works better for us poor people, but if one is like you where they pay it all back each month so you do not pay much in interest, I can see the perks being very beneficial.

I pay the card each time. So I don´t use it really as a credit card. They don´t charge me interest save on special occasions.

Eagle Beach is a few steps away from the resort where I will be staying. Now I will have to pay for other things.
