Movie Review - The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind

Based on a true story. It takes place in the African country of Malawi. It's a very poor country and the weather doesn't cooperate when it comes to planting and harvesting, so the people are hungry.
The boy has the opportunity to go to school, but his parents can't afford the fees. However, he finds a way to learn without learning. I know that probably didn't make sense. Because his parents couldn't pay the fees, he couldn't be taught, so he taught himself. He figured out how to create a windmill from junk just by reading and scrounging in the junkyard.
It's a story about corrupt government and extreme poverty but also about hope. The story is half English and half subtitle, but it didn't bother me. It's an excellent story and won the BAFTA award. I give this one a solid two thumbs up.
It's on Netflix. Have you seen it? Did you like it? Thanks for reading.

@just4him I do have Netflix but I also have lousy Internet (I live in the country so I have a choice of a few sattelite services and nothing else and they are all the same level of lousyness) so NetFlix is just frustrating. You get sometimes up to a minute of what your watching and then it buffers for a couple of minutes. When I finally get decent Internet, I'll go back to watching NetFlix.

@xander6464 Mine has been buffering lately. Totally annoying. I hope you can get a good Internet soon.

it sounds like a good movie. I watched an old movie yesterday called The Detective which was a Father Brown movie.

"To learn without learning" I like this phrase. Just like approving without thinking. My youngest son is a Netflix subscriber. I will have the opportunity to watch this movie.

Never heard of it before but sounds like one of those stories that finally make you smile at the end.

I'm sure there's a book, but this was a movie and an excellent one. I hope you find it in the library.
