1000 White Women

I've been in the apartment all day and grateful for it .It was 92 degrees outside. I've cleaned, did laundry, cooked and worked on a quilt. I carried a book out to the deck about 6 this evening and read awhile. I thought I might take a nap but I didn't. My book wasn't as interesting as I expected. It's a novel about 1000 white women being sent out as brides for Indians to bind the Indians and whites together. Actually that might have been a good idea if it has really happened.

I wonder if we could use some form of that idea today, and bind us all together.

I doubt it, people would probably be as horrified today as they were then. It would be a good solution.

@RubyHawk in reality, many are intermarrying. I hope it leads to accepting one another as time goes by. (couldn't think of a better word than intermarry, but I do think there is one human race.)

@paigea I like the idea, I have family and friends who are married to different races. Probably in a couple of hundred years we'll all be one race.

It does sound like an interesting idea in the book. Except I have a funny feeling that not all the women could adjust to life with the Indians and not all the Indian could adjust to life with them. Stay cool.

It would have surely been a better idea than killing Indians.

I think so. We would have all been family. Evidently our fore fathers didn't like the idea.

@RubyHawk The Indians trusted the immigrants and they welcomed them offering their products. It is sad how bad the white men treated them.

@LadyDuck that's so true, The Indians were treated horribly. It will always be a blot on our history.

The premise of the book sounds good but sorry that it was disappointing. The weather here today was beautiful

It 's hotter today than yesterday. I believe they said on the news that it broke all records.I'm still reading, I think it will be more interesting when the brides get to the Indians villages.

Sounded like a good day to stay inside. No need to be out in that heat. I'm sorry the book didn't hold interest.

Do you plan to finish reading the book through to the end? There might a dramatic or situational irony somewhere there. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

That is quite a unique idea, the reverse of what usually happened at least in my particular case it is a white man and a native wife.

@RubyHawk usually it is white men who take natives as wives not white women with native men. I have a native woman as my ancestors

92 is much too hot for me. Do you mean actual Indians or native US Indians?

American Indians. Actually native Indians did ask for brides for their young in order for the country to unite and live peacefully but they were refused and sent packing. The book I'm reading is fiction.

Maybe you should look into being a mail order bride, just kidding, but a lot of women are.
