Identity Politics... The Worst Way to Make Voting Decisions...

I never understood identity politics. I mean, yeah, I could easily play that silly game. I'm a US Military Veteran, I'm a Christian, I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I've worked on farms, in factories, in construction and I'm a musician. I have had people tug at my heart strings to vote the way they advocate based on all of these factors. I've had friends of all different demographics insisting that I somehow "owe" my vote to their group of choice. I guess that would prove I'm sufficiently "woke". Yes, I would love to see other Veterans in office. However I served with a lot of people who I wouldn't vote for. I know I served with a lot who would never vote for me. The same is true for all the other details I listed. No, it doesn't prove you aren't racist if you for a minority. No, it doesn't prove you are patriotic simply for voting for a Veteran. Who should you vote for? You vote for the candidate who you feel most closely fits the job description of the office in question. Voting any other way is really being disingenuous.

Vote for the lesser of two evils. Cause they are going to screw you either way. Just vote for the one you think will screw you over less

The lesser of two evils is still choosing evil. Of course we can only choose between those people running, but let's think beyond the two criminal parties. ;~)

@Bensen32 We have a choice, I didn't vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump in the last election, but I still voted. The biggest fear of the RNC and DNC isn't that the other party wins, it's that the people will stand up to both of them and choose someone else. I still hold out hope for the two parties at the state and local level, but the national party committees only have two purposes, to win elections and raise money. They only exist for one reason, to help their politicians get away with their crimes.

I would support you on that. I am glad you have used your intellect rather than on personalities and popularity of candidates. Unfortunately this happens a lot in election time where people would flock not because of the agenda he has in mind for the country but because of how he makes himself popular to the many. This is sad reality I am encountering for my country where we just finished our midterm election. Popularity and money was used to pushed themselves to power and the government was really tolerant with that.
