Run For The Basements!

A good part of Tuesday night was spent hiding in the basement due to tornado warnings. This involves me, my elderly mother, and a grand total of 14 pets. Including the four boy rats who were chewing multiple holes in their carrier and constantly trying to escape. Everything ended up passing over and all critters went back to their normal spots. Last night, the state capitals about two hours west got pummeled though. Nothing like living in the Midwest during tornado season!

I know. Monday night was Oklahoma's night of eternal tornados. I hate this time of year.

I’ve lived through one true tornado that ripped a 30ish year old tree in our backyard up by the roots. It wasn’t fun.

@amadeo One of my best friends is from Maryland - she freaks when the sirens go off.

Certainly isn’t. And the moment it rains, water starts pouring into the basement.

@Bensen32 Not my house so (thankfully) not my problem! The windows in at least two window wells are busted so water just flows right in.

@Lolaze Umm, you should get that checked out. I remember once the sirens were going off here for a tornado and while everyone was heading for their basements I was outside looking for the tornado....it never came.

Yeah, we're just across the river from you and we spent some time with the sirens and rains and all that jazz as well. Luckily on this side of the river we just got storms.

@Lolaze That is no fun. I grew up in Minneapolis so know about tornadoes but really did not experience one.

14pets! Lovely! Has the tornado caused so much destruction? I wish it had not.

Glad you are all safe. Tornados are one big reason I wouldn't want to live in the midwest. I'll take my chances with earthquakes.
