One or two-storeyed house?

My husband liked a 2-story home, I would have preferred one-story home, to avoid steps. We have a house as the one Deborah had in the past, two stories plus the basement with recreational room and laundry room, 32 steps from top to bottom... and 32 back. It's good for my legs and to keep in shape.

I live in a one-storey house now, but I prefer two-storey houses, especially if there is a balcony where I can see the neighborhood. There is a better view from the top floor. I once lived in 3-story house. It was small place, but the rooms were built on top of eachother instead next to each other. I loved the view from the top of the house.

Am with your wife. We tidy the house and the stairs is added chore. Our reason is practical. Yours is for pleasure.

I have always lived in a 2 story house. But now that I am older, it is not so practical.

Two stories are nice for the privacy but then you have to remember, who is going to do all the cleaning, who has to travel the stairs more and all of that. I have lived in a one-story home my entire life except for 5 months when I lived in an apartment that was on the second story and that was so annoying after a while.
