Memorial Day Weekend

What are you guys doing for Memorial Day? We usually go down town to see the parade but since my better half has a hard time walking that's out this year. Everyone at our complex is out celebrating with cooking out and visiting at the swimming pools. We went to the workout room this morning so I could use the exercise equipment and many people were in the pool or hanging out grilling and visiting. I was the only one using the exercise equipment so I took my time and enjoyed the exercise. Then came home and cooked a pizza and had cantaloupe for dessert. What did you do today?

We are going to the cemetery on Monday and that is really all we are doing for Memorial day. As for today, I have been drawing.

We drive by and see all the flags but since my better half can hardly walk that's about as far as he can go.

I turned on the TV a little while ago to watch a murder story. The Man buried in the Back Yard.That's all I've watched today.

It's a normal Sunday and we do not celebrate Memorial Day, it rains and we stay at home, my husband is not very well.

@LadyDuck Migraines are terrible. My son, two sisters, daughters in law, and grandchildren have them. Thankfully I have never had one.

We took it easy on Memorial Day - cooked/ate burgers, hot dogs, and all the fixings at home. Since our car accident, we just don't feel like driving out much lately. That being said, on Saturday we did take a drive to see my mother in law . . . we hadn't seen her in over a month because of the accident - it was nice to visit her.

@RubyHawk My husband got a broken rib - but the rest of us were ok. I hate these close calls - and seem to have to face them every day with these careless drivers.

@much2say A few years ago it seemed like they were out to get us. Several different cars ran into us at separate times. since that stopped everything has been good.

I hope you or family weren't injured in the accident. We often have close calls. Many people are careless on the roads.

We are meeting three families at the lake and will go out on the boat and than fix a nice meal. We are taking buns and hot dogs and a dessert.

We had a wonderful weekend weather-wise. It was gorgeous. My granddaughter and grandson marched in our parade and I brought a camp chair to sit in cause I can't stand for long periods of time. Sounds like you had a nice holiday weekend too.

My plans for Memorial Day weekend consisted of celebrating in France! haha My paintball team played in a tournament in Chantilly, just north of Paris. I'm back home in the US now, but I didn't make any plans for today because I wasn't sure how tired I would be after the long flight home last night. My sleep schedule is all thrown off, so I've just been laying around the house today. Good thing, because we topped 100 degrees today here in Gainesville. So glad I didn't make any plans to be out in that heat!

@RubyHawk We topped out at 101 yesterday and today. Thankfully, it finally rained today for the first time in weeks, and boy was it a whopper of a storm. I just built up over us and sat there and dumped tons of rain on us. Unfortunately, that means it's going to be super humid tomorrow, along with heat.

Many American soldiers gave up their lives in the Philippines during WWII. American expats, war veterans and gov't officials commemorate this occasion by visiting the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial at Fort Bonifacio.

no plans, 's per usual. always shocks me a tad 's folks see this holiday's a time fer havin' fun 's i've always seen such's a time fer reflection 'n 'ppreciation. perhaps they'd all be one'n the same?? i worked'n a quilt off/on today. the eyes can't handle more'n a wee section 't a time these days.

I feel the same way. My dad, brother, son,grandsons, brothers in law, cousins, uncles nephews, friends have all served in the military. it's a day to give thanks to all our veterans.
