What a mess

It is my own fault.
You may or may not know I make infused oils to be used in salves and such. I had some on the counter, behind my bread machine.
I went to the kitchen to get started, and found I had turned over my calendula in olive oil. I ran over about two feet of cabinet top, down the front and around on the tiled floor. Man is it slick.
So there are two things I must do: 1) infuse some more oil with calendula. Easy enough and it is warming at this time. 2). clean the olive oil off of all those surfaces. It surely is a pain.
First I soaked up all I could with paper towels. Next, I took a dish rag and put Dawn dishwashing liquid and water on it. Used a mop, the same way.
Still slippery. Oh, and I cleaned up all the junk that had accumulated in that corner of the cabinet.
So, now I have spread baking soda--soda bicarbonate, all over the slickness.
My plan is to rinse it all with citrus infused vinegar. It will be clean. I needed to clean. This is one way to get motivated.
This was also not what I was planning to post about this morning.
I will see you again in a bit.

I evidently shoved something back on my crowded counter and did not notice it fell over. I have been really tired lately and accident prone.

Actually it is not an essential oil, but infused oil. Used differently, and sometimes combined with extra essential oils. This actually would be blended with beeswax, plantain infused oil and lavender essential oil. Yes, this mess got me to put a few things away.

@GardenGerty that sounds confusing to me since I don't use those things I don't know the difference. Anyway it's great you make things yourself like that!

It certainly is and I am glad I do not have this kind of accident often.

Some of those sauces can leave a stain, too. I do not like it when I break or spill stuff.

What do you use the calendula oil for?

Calendula oil is used in skin treatments. In this case I was making, and will make, a batch of a salve called CPL. It has calendula oil and plantain infused oil, beeswax and some lavender essential oil. It is what I use instead of antibiotic ointment.

Hope you can get all that mess cleaned up. Two things that I hate spilling oil and raw eggs.

A trick with raw eggs is to cover it with a thick layer of salt. When the egg is absorbed you can scoop up the mess.
