How is everyone doing today? It’s Tuesday, 0908am and I am anxiously awaiting a dentist appointment to begin in 22 minutes. Wah! I thought I would share my cool new subscription obsession, Imperfect Produce. I put myself on a twice-monthly subscription that costs about $15 and you get several pounds of imperfectly-shaped veggies. This round I got 2 artichokes, leeks, 3 zucchini’s, 4-5 beets, 2 pounds of mini sweet peppers, 2 carrots, 3 pounds of sweet potatoes, a couple of tomatillos, and probably something else I am forgetting. I never would have thought to buy an artichoke but i have to say it felt like dissecting it to get to the meat, and a lot of waste! Do you eat artichokes? Gotten any fun things in the mail lately?

Perfect or imperfectly shaped, they all cook the same.

Right! And a good price! I like that it forces me to try new veggies.

I do like artichokes epseically in a spinach and cheese dip. I have broiled them with a little oil salt and pepper and enjoyed them that way too.

Sounds good! Do you buy them in a can or fresh?

that's quite a haul of veggies. The only time I had an artichoke was in a restaurant and it was breaded and fried (I think). It was hard to eat so it wasn't something I ever wanted to cook.

Oh haha. Often there is spinach-artichoke dip that is usually pretty good.

I like artichokes in dips and such but not a real fan. Make salsa with the peppers, onion and tomatillos

I haven't heard this name(artichoke) before. I think it is not available anywhere in my country. .

Usually we buy them in the can here on pizzas or in salads, but i don’t think they are super popular here in Minnesota of the US. Do you use Leeks at all?

what a strange idea for a subscription box, I like it! I've had artichoke a few times at restaurants in spinach artichoke dip, but I've never cooked with one myself. The only fun subscription box I do now is ArtSnacks, they send you art supplies in the mail. It's probably silly but I get things that I wouldn't normally buy and they usually end up being my favorite supplies

That sounds cool! I do a few boxes for beauty/makeup supplies which I am addicted to. But I think this is a good idea and seems worth the money in my opinion!

@maezee I've done one makeup box....but I rarely wear makeup! I cancelled that subscription and I still have so much I need to get through I love the idea of the veggie box you're doing, it means no food waste. Someday I will have to try that one, I think

Artichokes take a lot of work to prepare
