We saw some yellow-jackets in France

While we were having lunch in a café in Nevers, we saw some yellow-jackets marching up the street with their banners. It was quite a small group and didn’t really cause any trouble. Behind them, at a discreet distance, came a couple of police cars.
However, in Paris, we had intended to get on a hop-on, hop-off bus as we weren’t staying long in the city but then we were told that half of the trip had been cancelled because of trouble near the Arc de Triomphe. As the bus trip was quite pricey anyway, we went for a walk instead.

I wonder how many of those yellow jackets are just hoodlums looking to cause trouble rather than trying to institute positive change? Or are the yellow jackets at the point where they feel the only way for them to be heard is to vandalize property and cause trouble?

@moffittjc in fact in many cases, the so called "protestors" themselves are not aware as to what is their "cause".
They only look to ways for causing destruction and looting things.

@JudyEv I agree. I think violence, vandalism and looting are not the best way to get people to side with your cause, or take you seriously. All it's going to do is cause resentment, or backlash from the authorities.

@andriaperry The news is about the only thing we do watch. It's on about the time we have our dinner.

@JudyEv I just have no interest in returning there, I would much rather visit other areas of France.

do much disruption e'erywhere 't seems? i dunno what these folks'd be protestin', but glad 't least this group 'twas peaceful. usually only takes a few 'bad apples' to ruin such.
so thankful ya didn't take the bus 's such might've not'a great outcome. best to be safe than regretful later.

@JudyEv prolly so, they seem a bit more diversified 'n raunchy. that 'tis usually the case here'n the u.s. the original folks're most oft peaceful protestors'n then those 'bad apples' 'rrive jest coz they 'njoy the violence. then thingies get way out'ta hand - they destroy personal 'n business property, start fights, etc.

@crazyhorseladycx I agree completely. Some people are always just spoiling for a fight. They do more harm to their cause than good.

@JudyEv If they are damaging the country's property then it's bad.

@ihasaquestion I guess they are really but people get very frustrated and don't see any alternative to protesting in this way.

What were they protesting? Maybe it was a good thing the bus didn't work out.

I think the protest is mostly about high fuel prices.

Paris goes has its share of troubles and good police presence. So one had to be careful there and in fact in any big city around the world.

We found a lovely old church on our walk and ended up there for a Gospel concert.
