What keeps you going?

The nature of my work as Kitchen Attendant is physically taxing. It involves lifting heavy pans, 10-15 liters cooking pots and hundreds of dishes and cutlery. Repetitive within 4-5 hours at a time on every casual shift.
What keeps me going for a year now working there is the kitchen staff. They are kind, gracious, and are generous with their show of gratude towards me. Also, I've befriended a lovely lady who is a Dishie like me.
And she's 71 years old. She's been working there for three years now. Looks like she's happy and loves what she does. She is a retired primary school teacher and prefers to make money while receiving pention at the same time.
I have opportunities working with her on crazily busy hours. The Head Chef sometimes partners us, Dishies, and we make quite a good team together. And I extremely enjoy it when we talk and work together. Makes time pass so quickly.
My 71-year old friend inspires me to keep going; with extra earnings on the side, especially. It's a huge hospitality family-oriented business which I'm so grateful for giving me my Kitchen Attendant job.
So, what keep you going from your side of your world?

What keeps me going is knowing that my bills need paying and that won't get done if I didn't keep going!
My partner, my children, and my grandchildren are my inspiration. I want them all to be as proud of me as I am of them but mostly I want to be able to give them all I can.

That sounds very encouraging, as well. Your loved ones are very thankful that they have you in their lives. :-)

Probably, not thinking so much about what keep you going keeps you going. I like that. Thanks :-D

I think that's what she's doing. She just buried her husband about three week ago. Everyone at work loves her.

I admire your tenacity and will about honoring your parents in making them happy and blessed by you. I'm sure your parents are already so proud of you-- for you are a grateful daughter. Good things and happiness will surely go with you all your days..

@everwonderwhy thank you so much. It made me more motivated because of what you've said. I really love my parents because no matter how hard our situation they always find a solution for me that's why I want them to be happy someday and especially in having my job soon after I finish my study

That's great you have a wonderful dishie to help you keep going and motivate you.
My friends at the pool. They're very supportive of this old woman, at least I feel old on some days when my knees hurt more than usual.

What keeps me going is none other than my close friends from the foster home. Without them, life would be rather bleak..
