Owning a vehicle is a nightmare these days

With bumper to bumper traffic there is no point in owning a vehicle. There are reports that someone delivered in the ambulance as it could not reach the hospital on time.
The jam packed traffic does not help anyone and yet there is a long wait list of buyers of vehicles.
Any sense?

@allknowing I doubt it will work, just imagine how many millions of people have vehicles.

The only way is to have staggered office timings, staggered times for shops and stuff and depend on public transport

We do not have this kind of traffic on our secondary roads. Bumper to bumper is the highway leading to Italy, especially during the vacation season. We could not do without a car here, we only use the highway when we need to go to Milan and we get up at 4 in the morning to avoid traffic.

@allknowing As we are retired and we are not obliged to use the car when people go to work, we try to move during slow traffic hours.

nope, none't all. i'd not survive well'n a big city with all those 'mpatient folk. 'tis bad 'nough here'n my small town. we've no public transportation here, so one's gotta've'n auto. i live 'bout 12 miles from town, so walkin' such'r takin' a bicycle'd be a bit much.

Owing vehicles is essential for many but not a happy situation going by what we see on roads today.

Not just in your place. In Manila and in any places, getting stuck in traffic for 3 hours is a daily headache. Once I got home at 10 p.m. because of that stupid traffic jam near the entrance of our company.

@allknowing the problem is, no one in the government seems to be taking the traffic problem seriously. The traffic problem is about to worsen.

When there is ambulance or fire engines are on road, all vehicles cooperate and make a way. But the situation is like in picture, no one can help even if they willing to do.
By the way, the photo looks like from Delhi (seeing the colour of buses)

Traffic can be bad, and it is tough any where, but beats taking the bus or taxi and paying for a ride. I have people in my neighborhood that will always ask for rides, I have to say no, when my car is not working, I pay for a cab to get where I am going, I don't like to ask for rides to go places.

As long as manufacture of vehicles does not stop this problem will persist.

I do hate traffic tie ups but I would not give up my car. Driving in traffic only occurs in certain situations or times of day. Walking would take me longer than driving to reach my destination. And a bus leaves you at the mercy of their schedule not yours.

@allknowing I think it is different situation. Many people with enough Money will not buy car because of traffic jams. It is better use public transport since it is faster.

We're using our family service van every Sunday and when we're fetching working son in the city. So far traffic is not too heavy.

@allknowing But there are times when traffic is terrible especially when there's accident on the road. The road becomes impassable.

When vehicles are in short supply then customers have to wait for their delivery

Driving is crazy in the cities in India like most big cities here too. In the countryside it is lovely to drive.

Here in semi rural towns the drivers have a tendency to drive at speed resulting in accidents.
