I am calling this as a rare fruit because this is a tropical fruit and I have seen them found only in some parts of India and people don't know much about this fruit too. They are Palm fruits and they are grown on palm trees which grow about 30 to 40 feet in height. These fruits when are unripe are having tender and soft seeds and they are sweet and delicious to eat! When ripen the fruit becomes pulpy like mango and has three seeds in it and this fruit even after ripen is baked or just burnt on fire for sme time then cooled off! The baked or burnt fruit tastes very delicious and very sweet in taste! Have you ever tasted this fruit? I am sure most of the Indians also mustn't have tasted this fruit!

I have never seen those fruits, that are surely not available here. The smaller palm trees in the south of France produced similar fruits, but very small, they were sweet, they called them "Jujubes" in France.

If I am not wrong those fruits 'jujubes' are not palms and they are also known as Indian Jujubes while the fruit shown here is a palm fruit. i am posting the picture of Jujube and we call them as 'Ber' in Hindi!

They are tropical fruits and they can be eaten when they are unripe and the picture you are seeing is after the fruit got ripened up! when unripened the the seeds are very sweet and tasty to eat and since the are grown in summer people use them as thirst quenchers!

@ShifaLk , I have tasted the fruit! When it is unripe, we get gel like material from seeds, when ripen it is like mango. When the seeds are discarded after eating they are germinated to grow the plant, if we remove them before the leaves com up then the root tastes wonderful after burning it!

Possibly you never have any palm trees in Australia and that is the reason you don't know these fruits dear @JudyEv ! But then when I did research I found that Australia is having about 50 palms which may not have origin in Australia and Palm fruit tree also one of them. I think you need to do some research or searching to find this tree...here is the picture how this tree loks in Australia!
