You might have one, many people do

Or maybe you do not have one, but many people have what they call a "junk drawer". We did growing up. You might find tools, spare buttons, or many other things in that kitchen drawer at the end of the counter. A junk drawer can be anywhere, and hold just about anything. Actually, my top desk drawers have been serving that function for far too long.Extra tools are in the closet, plus I have a tool box for them. I like to have an organized house, or desk, or life. . . but dislike trying to get there when it is already out of control. So, about half the things that were there, in the top middle drawer, are not there any longer. Some of what must stay, like paperclips, have gotten contained in a box, because the one they came in collapsed. I have a stack of things scribbled on scrap paper that I want to type into files on my computer. The loose strips of staples are now put away, with a staple puller as well. Pictures have been put away with other keepsakes. Not a real active morning, but a good activity anyway. Items that can be recycled, are in that container. Hair clips that I randomly took out, are in a tray in a drawer in the bedroom now. Tools for nail care while I am at the desk are now zipped into a pouch together. Every little bit helps. Oh, I also found a random list of things I wanted to put in a discussion series! It has been a productive day.

The bottom drawer in our kitchen is our 'junk drawer'. I haven't been in there in a long while so I can only imagine how junky that drawer has become.

It is easy for things to be "out of sight, out of mind."

The junk drawer in my kitchen contains several kitchen utensils, and a few cookie cutters that I can think of.

I too have several junk areas. One basic junk drawer at the end on the cupboards. But I have four long drawers on the opposite side of my cupboards and those also hold various collections. Overall those are in reasonable shape as I have an idea which drawer holds which items although there's not necessarily any rhyme or reason to what's in each drawer. I have junk drawer in a built-in cupboard/drawer combination in the hallway. I should go through and throw half of it away, but... Maybe one day.

@GardenGerty you mean what's in each drawer? I know, pretty much what's in most of them. Maybe this year while I'm off I can declutter sooner if them especially the ones loaded with things we never use.

Yes, I have several. One day I'll go through them all and rid myself of the collection of junque. But, for now, the drawers remain filled to capacity.

I am with you on that. The one in the kitchen stays pretty neat, here. The desk, however, is another story.

Much of what is in my Junk Drawer is something I want to think about and decide if I want to discard it.

Yep we have a couple of them. I got an organizer container for one to try to keep things in their place for easier finding when we need them. The other drawer I go through probably once a year to through away things we don't need. Last year I threw away most of the take out menus because we don't eat out much any more and there was no reason to hold on to them.
