Wasn't able to accomplish what I had planned to do today

There were things I needed to do today but I decided to try working on my friend's book that she wants published and figure out how to fix the issues I am having with image quality during PDF conversion. I didn't want to put it off.
It took me most of the day to figure out how to fix things and as a result I got nothing done that I wanted to do today. At least I got to shower.
But the book is published, so that's great news! Of course it's not over yet.
She still has to buy a proof copy and look it over to make sure it's okay and nothing needs fixing. And then we have to see if the book meets all the requirements to get distributed to Amazon, etc. and approve it for distribution. Hopefully, all will be well and I won't have to fix and republish the book.
Self-publishing is very time consuming and it is no easy feat.

I had no idea of the many steps involved. I still would like to get my book published though!

Yeah, it's not 123 and you're done. A lot of work involved and if you self-publish you do it all yourself, unless you pay someone to do it for you. You should publish your book! What's it about?

@lovebuglena It's a children's picture book done all in rhyme...but needs illustrations. I looked at Lulu; and it was very expensive to get illustrations done. My husband suggested asking at the high school or something like that. Someone who is artistic.

@LindaOHio To publish with them is absolutely free. Are you talking about a service they offer? Or in general to hire someone to do them?

@lovebuglena I think it is better, many people still prefer paper books.

@LadyDuck I am forever a physical book person. Not a fan of reading books on a screen. I love the book smell and leafing through the pages.

The previous book I published for her I did both paperback and e-book.

It sure does. Formatting and proofing the manuscript and creating a cover is time consuming. The actual process of publishing the book (on Lulu - that's with I publish with) doesn't take that long.
