Our kids finally talked us into it!

I've written about how our kids and grands love to go on cruises. Our daughter even wants to live on one when she retires. Thank goodness her husband has better sense. My husband and I have gone on many vacations over the years, but we've never been interested in cruising. I know they're extremely popular now and the kids have been wanting us to go on one with them for a long time. So, if nothing happens, we will the beginning of September. We decided on a short one (in case we don't enjoy it or get seasick), and really, it's not the cruise itself that we're looking forward to....it's doing something fun with the kids. Our kids and grandkids actually want to spend time with us and want us to go on vacation with them. How cool is that? I'm starting to get excited about the trip. I'm making a list of things to not forget to take with me. I'm a planner and I like to prepare early. Besides, if I forget something, I don't think there's a Walmart on board. That's our daughter and grandson, Nathan in the photo.

I love to make lists months in advance. It's exciting for me. I'm a planner too. I hope you enjoy your cruise!

I knew we were kindred spirits. I live by lists and sometimes the planning turned out to be better than the event!

@1creekgirl My husband says, "You always overpack"....but when he asks me "Did you bring..." the answer is always "Yes!"

@1creekgirl I also make laminated maps of the places to see and things to do...Do you do that? I laminate because in hot climates, the paper gets wet from your hands, etc.

I see nothing wrong with living on a cruise ship. Think about it - every day is a different outlook, every port a different experience. I have heard that there are people who live on cruise ships permanently. I think that's a great idea!

I won't tell my daughter you said that. I guess she'd love it, but I always want home to come home to where I can put my feet up, sit around in my gown, or cook a pot of pinto beans.

It would be nice to have a buffet for every meal...someone to cook for you and lots of things to choose from. Of course, you'd weight 1,000 pounds before too long. lol

@1creekgirl Or you could live in the lap of luxury with staff to do everything for you. Sounds good to me!

That will be so fun! Take ginger pills with you in case you feel seasick. They get rid of it without making you drowsy.

I always take Bonine when I cruise, Start the morning of your cruise before you get on the ship and take one every day. Easy peasy and even in the highest seas, and trust me we have been on rough seas, I have never felt even a twinge of nausea. I hope you love it as much as we do.

@1creekgirl It does not make me sleepy at all. Dramamine does.

I'll have to remember Bonine. Is it like Dramamine? Does it make you sleepy?

We realized we aren't getting any younger, so if we're going to do it, now's the time.

If you don't forget anything, and it sounds like you shouldn't if you're already thinking about it, and you take something for your nausea, then you are bound to have a great time with your family. I'm sure that you'll make some wonderful memories.

As long as you don't get seasick, you should have the time of your life! I love going on cruises, and have been on many over the years. There is so much to do on these gigantic cruise ships, that they aren't kidding when they say they are floating cities! I'm like your daughter, I wouldn't mind retiring on a cruise shop someday. It's actually a very affordable way to retire!

What is with you guys, you and @ScotMac? I'm trying my best to convince my daughter she really doesn't want to retire on a cruise ship! I'd never get to see her again!

@1creekgirl For around $100 per day, you can have a place to sleep, all the food you want to eat, pools, fitness centers, arts, culture and more, not to mention the exotic ports you will sail to. And cruise ships even have medical facilities on board as well. Sounds like a fantastic way to live in retirement!

I would like to go on a cruise myself one day. The only thing I don't want to do is to go one by myself.

Thanks, they're both pretty special. We'll see how this upcoming cruise goes and decide if we ever want to go on another one.
