Peaches: feast or famine

I adore peaches in any form. Peach lotion, peach candy, peach air spray, everything "peach." Oh, and of course real peaches.
But I don't know what's going on with our one and only peach tree in the back yard.
If I remember correctly, the first year that it bore peaches, there were only about four peaches and they were the best I've ever had.
Another year, there were plenty of peaches on the tree, but they had some sort of disease so we couldn't eat them.
One year we actually did have good peaches and gave away tons to everyone we knew.
This year, there have been so many peaches that several branches have broken off from the weight! And this was after my husband knocked probably thousands off.
I don't know if the peaches will be disease free, if any will grow as large as they should, if more branches will break, or what will happen.
To be continued....

Peach time now - I LOVE peaches! They've hit the stores, but if only we had our own tree. We got peach handpies recently from the farmers market - and we made our own peach cobbler. And yes of course had the fresh ones. I am not a fragrance person, but I love the scent of peaches!!

That happens here with our mangoes. Last year a branch well off with mangoes. We did not know there were mangoes up there until this happened. They were hiding among the leaves.

those fruit trees can be quite the challenge. i recall back when i'd peach trees, one year'd be a bumper crop 'n the next these lil tiny 'things' that looked like peaches, smelled like peaches, e'en tasted divine - trouble bein' no larger'n a 50 cent piece.
i fear ya'll 're gonna need to either knock more peaches off 'r put braces 'neath those branches. ya need to be careful coz bugs'll get 'nto where those branches 've broken off 'n eventually kill the tree.

@1creekgirl perhaps? then i think 't times such's got to do with the prior years weather 'n moisture? i dunno, the hubs'd not listen our last bumper crop 'f monster peaches 'n many limbs broke. the drought came the next year 'n 'twixt that'n the bugs that 'nvaded all that raw flesh 'f the tree, such perished the next season.

That's good advice. Last year my husband said that if it doesn't produce well and has that disease, he's going to cut it down. I wonder if it was listening. It has so many peaches several branches broke.

I Agree with Lori, love Peach Tea, makes great iced tea. Our fruit bushes and tree are overloaded this year so something is going on here too.

I had a peach tree once, but it did not put very many peaches on. Whenever the tree had peaches; a raccoon would eat the peaches right off the tree.
