Back home in Western Australia

We arrived back in Western Australia after six weeks in France, Ireland and Austria. After 30+C weather in Austria, it’s winter at home – cold and raining. We had no internet at all in Austria and over the six weeks, I posted from time to time but had very little reading time. So I’m about to catch up with all your posts, or at least some of the latest. We had a wonderful time away but I was pleased to get home. We had a four-hour flight from Vienna to Doha, nearly missed our plane there but just managed to board it in time. The plane was half empty and we were able to stretch ourselves over several seats and get some sleep on the 16-hour sleep back to Perth, Western Australia. However, at the moment I feel a bit like this rabbit - a bit lop-sided and unbalanced. Isn’t he cute though?

It seems like 'There is no place like home.' I like the bunny. Can I adopt it?

It's always nice to get home after a holiday, isn't it? I thought the bunny was very cute.

So it is winter in Australia? It's the opposite in other countries.

In the southern hemisphere it's winter. We're always opposite to the northern countries.

I got that experience when we were returning home from our package holiday. The plane was half empty and I slept through the whole journey.

It makes the journey seem a lot shorter doesn't it?

Glad you're home! Between you and John (who also just returned home to L.A. from his vacation in the south) I'm hopefully going to have LOTS of vacation articles to read in the coming days!!!!

Nothing like being in home regardless of wherever we go ... I could relate to how you feel now. You surely need to grab some rest. The rabbit is surely a cute little one.:)

@JudyEv Yeah.. I'm one kind. I might require minimum of 1 week to get back to normal after a long travel. Glad to know that you're resuming back to the normal mode..

I slept a bit better last night thanks. Most people seem to have a bit of jet lag when they get home.

Welcome back! I'm sure that you'll feel less like the bunny and more balanced with a few good night's of sleep in your own bed.

I felt fine when we arrived as I'd been able to stretch out over 3 seats in the plane and sleep quite a bit. But we haven't slept well since. I'm sure we will in a day or two.

I know the wonderful feeling to be back home and sleep in our own bed. You escaped the horrible heat wave that is going to start the coming Monday, 38 C expected in many northern cities.

@JudyEv It rained a lot before the heat, this is why the humidity is high.

Our first day in Austria was very hot. The humidity there seems to be higher than in our area.

@crazyhorseladycx Rabbits were introduced years ago and virtually brought the agriculture industry to a standstill. They increased to plague proportions and are still a major problem. Here is a photo from 1938 of rabbits round a water-hole.

@jm1978 We stayed with an older couple about 40 kms from Vienna and they didn't have wifi. I think they would have the net in hotels.

@JudyEv Sounds like you had a great trip but no place like home. Glad the plane was half empty and you could stretch out. It must be hard to go from nice weather to winter.

@JudyEv I bet it was. That is hard to deal with. I wonder if people that have winter where they live and go to a warm climate if they wait till their winter is over and then come back to decent weather where they live.

Half empty plane and lots of seats to stretch. May I envy you !! Some of the International flights I I had were so packed and I could only half sleep. I think I had to cover up on my sleep later on.

That was good luck having a half empty plane. I like Qatar airways they are so luxurious compared to other airlines,. I would fly with them anytime. In my opinion they are the best!
