My dad went back to work today....

As many of you know, my dad had a big boo boo with his foot. Having his big toe amputated. After about 5 months of not being able to work, he went back again today.
It's very positive that his surgeon has said he can drive and go back to work. But I admit today was a tad stressful. I can only imagine some of you may be thinking I need to stress less. But one day I will explain why I find it hard to relax. I am fine! It's just when something bad happens, I need some time to adjust. Like when my dad started driving again for example. I was worried how that would be but now he is doing fine with that, I'm not worried anymore. Today I was worried about whether or not he was eating properly and taking the medications he needs. And how he would be climbing in and out of the van a lot.
Long story short, besides my dad, I'm having some other concerns. I haven't slept in a little over 30 hours. I thought I was going back into a better pattern but I can only assume the worry with dad and other things has made me turn into a vampire again so, very exhausted yet not ready to settle in bed just yet.
It seems my dad had a good day. It's still not the job he wants to do. It's just where he is at right now. He told me he didn't skip any meals or forget insulin / tablets, so that's good. But I still worry. Again, I have my reasons. It's not like I do this for fun. It's just the way I am but can't help but wonder if my family has made me this way due to all their shenanigans in the past. One day I will open up about it but for now, please trust me when I say my worrying and stress is very valid. And not just for one family member right now. Feels like the whole unit is collapsing.
Anyway, just an update that my dad is back at work. And a little bit of tired venting, sorry. But he did good today.

I could relate to how you feel now. In fact, the post surgery maintenance will be worry-some thing until your dad resumes to normal life completely. Stay calm and just keep in mind - This too shall pass.. ! Good luck with your father. Take care and grab enough rest whenever you can.. =)

I understand what it feels like to try to be the glue for everyone. I have a cluster of similar situations. I hope you get your sleep regulated soon.

@GardenGerty Thank you for understanding but sorry to know you're in a similar situation. And thank you very much. Just watching something on TV with dad for now and hopefully sleep after that. Wishing you all the best for whatever is going on with the situations you mentioned.

That one less worry that his day went well for him and also he took his meds and ate food. I think he is in no hurry to repeat the toe incident which is good. That will keep him in line and push him to take better care of himself.
