Since I have been ordered to spend most of my time resting I seem to be watching a lot of TV. I have found that it is so hard to find something good to watch unless it is one of the older shows. Anyway for some reason I seem to have started watching a number of old cowboy shows such as The Virginian, Gunsmoke, and Rifleman. I have found myself engrossed in their stories. One of the things I have noticed is … a lot of them wear spurs. While I don't find that unusual, I find myself questioning why they don't take them off while they are trying to sneak up on someone. I mean, the jingle, jangle of the spurs would surely alert the person they are trying to catch. It does make one wonder, doesn't it? Have you ever noticed?

Now that you mention it yeah, why did they let them wear their spurs while trying to sneak up on a criminal. Hmmmmmmm...............

I wonder if it was because they might be cumbersome to put on and take off. I never thought about it. You picked some great westerns to watch.

@HazySue I have no idea and never gave it a thought. I wonder if a search in the Internet would give an answer.

I love those old westerns. I bet it would be a pain to keep taking them on and off all the time. But...how do they catch the criminals making all that music?

And now you need to start watching the wild horses if there are any as many seem to be wearing shoes! (Horse-shoes I mean)

I thought the same everytime I watched those old cowboy movies. (Unless it was the male thing to do? to be caught red handed and be proud of it? )

Great minds think alike. I guess it was a male thing to do.

My husband likes old westerns too, and I often will sit and watch them for a bit with him. I see those spurs a lot too on those shows. I'm glad that I'm not a horse, those would hurt!

That is funny. We watched the whole Virginion series several years ago. Hubby watches Rifleman on Saturday. He wonders why they have a Sheriff when the Rifleman catches all the bad guys. He also found old radio shows online. Like The Shadow.

Hope you are feeling better. Spurs are a cowboy thing; and I think they leave them on in the movies so that you can hear that jingle, jangle, jingle as they walk.
