I think this is a hobby that is enough to spend money. Well, in my opinion this really costs a lot. It's fun, but without realizing "a little more, after the next round I will stop" continuously, finally the money runs out. There was one friend of mine who finally fell bankrupt because of his hobby of gambling. He sold almost everything he owned, from houses, cars, motorbikes to home furniture, just for be able to pay off his debt.
There are not many casinos in Jakarta. Once there is even very exclusive. No many people visit this place, just the rich one. At a minimum you have to put around 200USD for a new deposit you can play in the Jakarta casino. That's why many local people and tourists choose to gamble in neighboring countries like Malaysia.
Many pros and cons about gambling. There are so many benefits to be gained. Taxes from gambling are also quite large. Very helpful for the economy of a city to the country. But is it good enough for morals? Given that many are victims and debts due to this hobby. What do you think?

It is one of those things that can be enjoyable as long as you know when to stop. I like to gamble sometimes but I set myself a limit. I know that I would not be able to afford to lose a lot so I have a set amount that I allow myself to use on payday. If I win anything from it, I might use the winnings or I might save them, depending how much I win. If I lose it all, I know it's an amount I can afford to use, and then I stop.
The problem comes when people don't know when to stop. When they, like your friend, gamble more than they have and end up losing everything.

@redtesha It is said but I do understand that some poor people do it out of desperation, perhaps feeling that they aren't reaching their financial goals any other way.

i am agree with you. many of my friends eventually fell poor because of this. I did not expect to have to lose a lot of their assets to pay for gambling. there is a lot of gambling here, especially among less educated people because they think gambling is a step in getting fast money. very sad.

It's alright if you will not get addicted to it. Maybe an occasional hobby but just do it for fun and only bet the money you are willing to lose.

I don't like gambling because it can become addicting very fast.
