Is a bridal shower for girls only?

My husband's cousin is getting married and I've been invited to a bridal shower. Is this a girl's only thing?
I've only been to a bridal shower once but it was years ago. I don't remember if there were any guys there aside from the bride's fiance?
I've never had a bridal shower myself. I had no need for a blender, a food processor or some other house thing. Besides, I figured that it was cheaper to get something myself than throw a bridal shower, which is not cheap, just to get something for free.

I wonder if her fiance will be there... It seems kinda weird though to have one guy and all the rest are girls...

@lovebuglena I had a surprise shower thrown for me; and my husband was there. About 50% of the showers I've been to the fiance was there.

I have known bridal showers to be a girl thing. But, I do not know... maybe times have changed?

I did not have a bridal shower. It's not that I was opposed to it - my maiden of honor just didn't think to plan one 
. Oh well - at that point we really didn't need anything either.
I've been to mostly all girls bridal showers with a couple exceptions. One that I went to when I was 18, I didn't know it was meant for everyone to be there - so my boyfriend (whom the couple knew too) did not go - it was a by mouth kinda thing so there wasn't an invitation to make things clear. Another one our friends had one big bbq in their backyard - all were invited - and that time the invitation made that clear.
. Oh well - at that point we really didn't need anything either.

@lovebuglena I always thought that it was girls only . . . and at 18 I didn't really know how it all worked . . . so it was to my surprise when I got to the shower that all these guys/couples were there! Other than those 2, all the other bridal showers have been girls only.
I also thought it was the maid of honor and bridesmaids who planned the shower . . . and if not, it would be a close family member like a mom or sister. Or at least I've never been to a shower where the host was the bride.

Invite didn't really specify whether it was girls only or not. Is the maid of honor supposed to do the bridal shower for the bride?

My hubby asked me if it's for everybody or just for girls. I didn't know what to tell him.
