A special delivery!

This morning just before lunch the postman posted the mail through the door. I was pleased to receive a lovely card from none other than @Gillygirl. She is so clever and adept at knowing what I would appreciate. It was a very interesting card about the Irish Guards. The army were ordered to create a regiment of Irish guards by Queen Victoria in April 1900 and have had a battalion of guards ever since.
These soldiers are on active service and alternate overseas postings with the Coldstream guards protecting WIndsor castle when they are back in the country. Ironically the IRA bombed their bus in London in 1981 injuring 23 soldiers causing injury to 16 members of the public and killing two people.
The Regiment were pallbearers at Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mothers funeral in 2002 as she was their Colonel in Chief.

That was just one of the atrocities in London Anna. The worst one was Hyde Park Corner where the cowards used Nail bombs to blow up the horses and soldiers! The best thing about their campaign in London was when a bomber blew himself up on a London Bus when the bomb went off prematurely only killing himself but sadly injuring some others on and off the bus.

The IRA were evil they were mostly funded by the Irish/American community! They are still killing people even today!

Interesting and very nice of her, people unfortunately have stopped getting postcards because everything is digitized ... I miss those times
