I paid myself to shop for someone else

Well, no I'm lying...
Or sort of stretching the truth.
I used Rakuten (formerly Ebates) and went through ebay to purchase a gift for a friend. I am really bad at choosing gifts but I am hoping she will like this. It is four placemats that have a little sea turtle on them. The picture showed them as a turquoise / teal color, but the color listed was "aqua."
I am hoping they end up the color I expect them to be. They are supposed to arrive mid-week and I'll get them packaged up so I can give them to another friend on the weekend. This friend will give the gift to her closer to her Birthday as I won't see her.
If you have a cashback / savings site like rakuten (or rakuten itself) do you use it? Or do you often forget to use it? I know that there are a lot of credit cards with cashback offers too, do you use those cards to "pay" yourself?

I did sign up for Ebates recently but have yet to use it. I have seen my daughter receive a few checks in the mail from them. I usually use the Air Miles Store. There's tons of big websites in there. I have 75% of my air miles going to cash and 25% to dream (ie travel). That means I cash out at the grocery store or pharmacy thereby lowering my purchase costs.
Oh, and by the way, if you download honey to your browser add-ons, every time you shop it will check to see if there are any discount codes or a better price somewhere else.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Air Miles might be a Canadian thing. I also have an app called Receipt Hog. I upload all receipts and receive points, and spins for even more points. I could cash out for a $5 gift card right now but would rather wait for more. There's also the chance on that wheel to win cash prizes and a trip. Like you said, every little penny.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Not really. We don't have things like double coupon days. I don't even use coupons anymore. There is another app called Checkout 51 where you upload your receipts if you purchased something on their weekly discount list. That account is over $23. I could cash out but am holding off.

I've heard of honey, but I have not heard of Air Miles Store.
I used to have ibotta and such like that, but I don't anymore. I've thought about getting Ibotta again though, every little penny, ya know?

I shop online via Swagbucks if the store participates. I have heard of Ebates but never joined because I use Swagbucks. I had no idea it is now Rakuten.

I've used swagbucks a few times, but I like the system of Rakuten a bit better. I did like that swagbucks used to offer cashback to an online store that I bought British foods from.

@lovebuglena I haven't used SB in so long. I've never been good at their surveys. I use another survey site that is the best fit for me.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I do surveys on there and other things so thought why not shop through them as well. Will help me get to my 2500 SB faster.

I had ebates/rakuten for many years and just now started to use them. I've tried to get a friend of mine to sign up since she does a lot of online shopping at Christmas. It's worth it, atleast in my opinion. Don't expect a lot of cashback (those commercials act like everyone is a big spender) but you should atleast get 25 cents to $1.00 depending on the % back and how much you've spent.

I make use of Rakuten whenever I purchase something online. I have gotten two payback from them previously.
