Bad hair day or what?

The frizzle chicken should surely be an entrant in something. The question is what? Maybe most comical chicken or most unique chicken? Probably not most beautiful chicken.
The feathers of the frizzle curl up towards the chicken's head. They look a bit as if they've had a shower then stuck their beak in an electric socket. Some breeders consider them a separate breed but the plumage type shows up in breeds such as the Polish, Silkie, Japanese and Cochin. With the silkie having such soft, silky plumage anyway, the addition of the frizzle factor makes the bird look as though it has come through a tornado.
Frizzles are available both in full size and bantam size. The frizzle factor is actually a mutation. Successful show birds will have a heavy ruff of feathers round the neck.
The breed has been around for some 300 years. They have been reported in Asian regions such as the Philippine islands, Java and Southern Asia. Not many are seen outside poultry shows. If you do have a few in your backyard, they are bound to cause comment. They lay ordinary eggs, the colour of which depends on the breed. Frizzles bred to smooth-feathered birds will give 75% frizzled chickens.
Wouldn’t you like a few of these scratching for worms in your backyard?
The photo is of a friend's bird.

The first thing that came to my mind was, I wonder what ruffled its feathers?
Yes, it wouldn't get my vote for being the prettiest chicken.

Thanks for the information on this breed I did not know about it. Kind of cute chickens.

That frizzle chicken certainly is a hoot! Never saw one like that but I wouldn't mind it in my backyard.

@JudyEv I think you mentioned it already with @Juliaacv 'Whirling dervish' which is probably what I would have said. But most possibly from sticking his beak in an electrical socket. However those feathers get so fluffed up it certainly is unique.
Maybe he should change his name from frizzle to frazzle

@Marilynda1225 Haha. Good idea. 'Frazzled' sounds a better term.

That is something interesting to know.
I feel it has inspired all the modern weird spiked hairdos
