After five days on the road I have made it home. They'll kick me out of the Dave Dudley fan club for not having SIX days on the road.
Now that I'm home it's time to sing about Stephen.
Stephen is my car. He was named after the 1975 Neil Sedaka song about Stephen Foster. He's a newer car, a 2017 model, one of those "crossover" doo-hickey things. (I don't know where they fit, to tell you the truth: Honda says "crossover," or CUV; but the state has it registered as a truck.)
Oh, well. That's to confuse everyone. I'm here to talk about my gas mileage.
My first post-retirement road trip, which encompassed about 700 miles, four states, and five days, produced some staggering gas mileage.
Now, understand, this is a fully gas automobile. It is NOT a hybrid.
And that's not a doctored photo. I was getting 37 MPG. The "instant fuel economy" showed a few places where it was over 40 MPG.
Needless to say, I'm happy with my little...whatever it is.
Hooray for Stephen!

Pretty interesting, what happened on that third trip? You were drag racing again, admit it.

That was the tank when I left Louisville, so part of that was in-town driving.
Drag racing? RuPaul and The Lady Chablis running around a track?

@FourWalls You took that a little to literal, think you really were racing RuPaul, your guilt is showing through. I bet you smoked that b word.

What can I say?
BTW, I’m just aching for Angels fans. That was such a shock.

My uncle has a CUV too. He gave his to my mother when the SUV he gave her a few years ago broke down. Then he bought another CUV.
