Received a Call from Louis Vuitton

My husband answered the house phone from an unidentified wireless number, which he usually doesn’t, and the caller identified himself and asked to speak with me.
My husband brought me the phone and told me it was Louis Vuitton, a high end luxury goods shop. I used to buy my shoes, clothes, and handbags there, but not for about 6 years. I made a face at my husband, but decided to take the call and hang up.
As it turns out, I bought the handbag in the photo at a Louis Vuitton store while on vacation in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands for the color. I think I have only used it three times in 6 1/2 years.
This bag came in orange and turquoise, as well as ivory. All three have colored linings which some customers have had problems with the color of the lining running if the humidity was high or the bag got wet. I haven’t had that problem.
So, Louis Vuitton is giving me two choices. The first is to have the lining changed at no cost, or the second, to set up an appointment to return the bag and choose another. I don’t have to return to St. Thomas. Any Louie store will honor this. I’m sure I will have to pay the difference in whatever bag I choose.
I know what I plan to do. What would you do?

Die from shock. My purse, which I rarely carry, cost $6 at Wally World.

@sharon6345 FYI, we donate to several charities routinely. Half my myLot earnings also go to one of our favorite charities monthly, also.

@DianneN And it was very nice, these days when customer service can be so hit and miss it is nice to know someone still backs their products. And, of course, you don't have to apologize, I live vicariously through you and your shopping lol
There are so many people on here at so many different financial levels. You and your hubs had great jobs that provide you with a wonderful lifestyle, that is the American dream after all. Al and I are a tad more blue collar than white but we want for nothing and have a great life, It is all good!! We both married good providers, aren't we the lucky ones!!

I prefer the limited edition bags that can only be found in certain shops, but I refuse to run all over the country to look for them and have them hold one for me like I used to do. Those were crazy days. Lol! Just ask my husband. Anyway, I prefer Chanel.
I only buy what we can afford.

@BelleStarr Many people buy things they can't afford, and pay it off little by little, most of it interest. What fun you must have with those purses. I won't dare tell you how many designer bags I still have - I did give many away to my DILs and friends. We've traveled all over the world and hubs has had an excellent career. My mother always said that I have BIG eyes, and her advice to me was to spend, spend, spend. She said the more I spend, the more my husband has to earn. lol. We are blessed, but we don't spend foolishly. My lifestyle is what it is, and I don't need to make any apologies for it.
I just thought it was nice of the store to do that for its customers.

@DianneN - I would absolutely trade it in for a new bag, especially since you so rarely use the one you have. What fun to get a new bag with only a small financial cost! I haven't been a member of Neiman's Incircle since I retired, but when I did belong, I was always getting nice benefits. Luxury can be delightful!

@DianneN - I definitely get it. We do not have a SAKS near us, although I have shopped in the one in Manhattan when we have been in New York. There is one in Southcoast Plaza near Newport Beach, but it is about 20 miles away, and I rarely shop there.
Honestly, I just don't buy enough luxury goods anymore, now that I am retired and our daughters are grown, to actually qualify for many extra perks from a department store, but I certainly enjoyed it when I was raising four daughters and constantly buying everything from shoes and prom dresses, to cosmetics. I do get my granddaughters things from the Brighton Store, though, and often get their free gifts with purchase for myself! LOL
Funny story: A few years ago I was buying a new bag in the Coach Store, and my husband commented that he didn't think I needed a new purse. A totally strange woman was walking by. She stopped in her tracks, looked at my husband and said, "You can never tell a woman she doesn't need another purse." Then, she walked on. The sales woman and I burst out laughing, and my husband stood there dumbfounded, before he started laughing, too. LOL

Get the lining replaced and feign innocence when they see the Cheeto's stains.

wow, LV is famous here. in fact, when one has an LV, he or she is already considered a ''fashionista''.
i have a small pouch LV bag and an LV belt, which my former clinical coordinator kept on asking me to give these to her. i declined saying these are gifts from my big brother.
my sister also has a small portfolio and a medium-sized shoulder bag, which she does not use and keeps it inside her closet.

@DianneN LV bags are durable. but here in my country, there are some bogus LV items made in ROC, and they are sold in stores of lesser prices.

Louis Vuitton bags are timeless. I would change for a classic piece. The canvas are of good quality.

@LowRiderX Thank you. I told my husband a couple of weeks ago that I was due for a new bag. I'm sick of my old ones.

Did your bag end up having the lining run on the patent ivory?
I would totally choose another new bag!

I have to base my answer on what my wife would do,
. She would return the bag and choose another.
When I saw Louis Vuitton in your title, I immediately thought of the movie Leap Year and the Louis Vuitton bag Amy Adam's character treasured. Matthew Goode's character called it Louis as if the bag were a pet.

Good thing you didn't hang up the phone. I would have thought it spam and hung up. Getting another bag I think is the way to go.
