Another favorite place from my trip to Iowa

When I was a college student, and lived in the dorms, we ate in a place called "Quad." I believe it was a part of Main Hall, which was were much of the "partying" took place at the (recent) reunion. I'll attach a picture of Main Hall, as it shows the architectural style of the "older" buildings on campus. The dining hall itself was a large, Gothic style area. I had many good conversations there. Note the pink flamingos in the foreground. My class always had "good taste."

They've over-built the campus now.The newer buildings look rather "generic" and don't have the charm of the older ones. I didn't photograph the newer ones.

Someone had fun with those. I wonder if it was my friend Greta, who had a pair at her wedding some 35 year ago.

@JudyEv That's why she had them. We were always a tad "sarcastic" in our youthful days.

I do too, and did when I went to school there. Some US colleges go with brick, imitating Harvard. Others go with grey stone, imitating Yale. ThHis one imitated Harvard. And they did it well. But they've over-built their 90 acres now. I did not take picture of the newer buildings.

You mean...you don't find pink flamingos to be an exercise in good taste?

Where was this located at? The only place I've ever been to in Iowa was Mason City.

I immediately noticed the Pink Flamingos because they are totally out of place there.

They may have been placed there to memoriailize on of our favorite professors. He was an Art professor who did an hilarious lecture on "bad taste" that everyone who took his Intro to Art class remembers. Hey, he was even gay!

What a funny place to have flamingos. But a great memory for the professor.
