Loose Ends

Life for the past couple of months has been a little crazy. As my schedule slows down I’m attempting to take care of all the loose ends. In the past couple of days, I have finalized and sent off my daughter’s school transcripts. I’ve run hither and yon returning costumes and making sure everything gets where it’s supposed to go (I’m down to five dresses and some accessory pieces hanging in my basement). I’ve spent some time working on a quilt that is almost done (and has been at that point for almost two months). I’ve pulled a few weeds (though not enough to make much of a dent in my garden). My to-do list doesn’t seem to be getting much shorter so I will continue plugging away. Maybe by the time summer ends I’ll be back on top of things! Photo credit: Annika Arin Towe

@SophiaMorros Home renovations take time. Are you able to live in your home while they are being done and are they really noisy?

@Hannihar my husband is doing them while we love here (and I'm doing some bits myself). Some of the bits and pieces in my house haven't been in their proper place since last August.

I'm mostly on top of things again...now if we could just finish the home renovations!

You have a very long list of chores to do. For the weeds, as we have a heatwave, I poured salted water on them and they are dying, of course only those on the pathway, in the lawn I have to pull.

The bulk of the weeds I need to attend to are the ones that have invaded my strawberry bed. Salt water would be unwise.

@SophiaMorros No, you cannot use salt water if they are near edible plants, it would kill the strawberries too.

@LadyDuck which is why I will continue to remove them the old-fashioned way!

It would give you peace if you completed a chore rather than handle many and not complete any

I did complete a chore (my daughter's transcript) as for the rest none of it lends itself to pushing through all at once.

@SophiaMorros One at a time, one at a time (lol)

@allknowing It's just not feasible. I have no intention of spending more than an hour at a time in the heat pulling weeds and returning costumes involves coordinating with other people. And the quilt is what I use to keep my hands busy when I'm sitting with my husband in the evening.

The list of chores must be getting slightly shorter although, if you're like me, you just keep adding to the list.

I think I'm adding things faster than I am checking them off. It's the natural consequence of letting things slide for over a month.
