A friend of mine posted on Facebook today that he was going in to have his knee scoped. And if you know anything about me, you know I'm a jokester. I was doing my monthly "big shopping" routine today, so I went to the dental care aisle. Then I took this attached picture of my knee getting Scoped. My friend said the procedure went very well, and he should have no problems playing in the golf tournament at the end of the month. That's the most important thing!

He said he’ll get the results tomorrow, but said everything went very smoothly during the procedure.

What does "scope" mean here?

Medically, a probe is inserted to look for problems in the body (whatever body part that's being scoped), such as arthritis or a muscle/tendon issue that won't normally show on an X-ray. "Scope" is also the brand name of a mouthwash, completely unrelated to the medical term.

I’m glad everything went well for your friend. My husband had had two of those done over the years.
